Serve as the operational leader across UM Capital Region Health, overseeing key clinical service areas, including Radiology and Imaging, Laboratory, Therapies (PT/OT/ST), Respiratory, Pharmacy, and Vendor Contracts. Reporting, this executive plays a vital role in strategic planning, performance management, and ensuring excellence in patient care and safety. As a member of the hospital's Executive Council collaborates closely with senior leadership, including the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and other key executives, to align clinical operations with the organization's mission, financial goals, and patient care objectives. Direct report to the Senior Vice President of Operations/Strategy.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for assigned clinical service lines to drive efficiency, cost management, and high-quality patient outcomes.

  • Ensure compliance with all accreditation and regulatory requirements while fostering a culture of safety, quality, and patient-centered care.

  • Oversee Environmental Services, Food and Nutrition Services and serve as a liaison for clinical engineering.

  • Lead hospital operations directors, managers, medical staff, and clinical leaders to achieve the UM Capital Annual Operating Plan and UMMS' strategic priorities. Develop, communicate, and administer plans to achieve Annual Operating Plan goals and objectives.

  • Collaborate with other executives and their teams to maintain and manage a rolling 5-year capital plan that addresses routine annual capital expenditures as well as strategic capital priority for investments in facilities, major clinical equipment and technology.

  • Serve as a member of the UM Capital Region Health Executive Council working alongside physician and administrative leaders to drive, support, and implement strategic institutional initiatives and transformative change efforts.

  • Coach and mentor leaders and staff to achieve expectations.

  • Create and sustain a culture of safety through employee engagement, leader standard work, and process improvement.

  • Foster a culture of excellence, engagement, commitment, service, inclusion, collaboration, and integrity while prioritizing key operational goals, including safety, efficiency, cost management, access, capacity, throughput, and quality outcomes.

  • Develop and drive the execution of strategies to attract, develop, and retain top talent. • Establish comprehensive metrics and reporting to evaluate team performance to ensure goals and objectives are being met.

  • Identify and resolve operational and performance gaps and obstacles; implement changes and improvements.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships across UM Capital Region Health.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor plans to achieve patient experience targets.

  • Negotiate and manage business services agreements.

  • Accountable for leading transformational initiatives to deliver operational efficiencies, reduce supply expenses, and achieve labor productivity benchmarks.

  • Work to assure high performance in efficiency, throughput, and cost-effective delivery of services.

  • Use financial and operational analytics to make informed decisions about employee productivity, supply utilization, and other areas directly impacting margin.

  • Lead efforts to implement best practices, streamline operations, influence allocation of resources, manage costs, and improve financial performance.

  • Play an integral role in strategic planning, budget planning, and capital planning.

  • Accountable for managing and achieving operating budgets and performance improvement targets (e.g., Labor productivity, purchased services, etc.).

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring the UM Capital support services long-term strategic growth plan.

  • Collaborate with UM Capital executives, nursing leaders, health system leadership, and medical staff to provide strategic oversight and ensure seamless operational efficiency.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, problem solving, innovation, continuous learning, and a one team mindset.

  • Perform other duties as assigned



Company Description
Located in Largo in the heart of Prince George's County, our new state-of-the-art regional medical center (UM Capital Region Medical Center) will provide improved access to primary and ambulatory care services, and serve as a tertiary care center for critically ill patients. In addition, our new space will allow us to expand our offerings as a community partner to help improve the health status of Prince George's County residents.


Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Hospital Administration, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of executive leadership experience in healthcare operations, with expertise in areas such as Perioperative Services, Pharmacy, Facilities, Radiology, and Laboratory.

  • Proven record of accomplishment successfully managing programs and services in a large health care setting.

  • Expert knowledge of current healthcare administration principles and best practices.

  • Expert leadership skills, including situational awareness, conflict resolution, establishing alignment and clear direction, and driving continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead within a complex, matrixed healthcare environment, balancing operational efficiency with clinical excellence.

  • Expert skill in business planning and program development with a proven record of accomplishment in exceptional clinical services.

  • Strong business and financial acumen with a track record of managing large-scale clinical service operations, budgeting, and strategic planning.

  • Proven ability to successfully motivate and inspire staff to high performance levels.

  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and drive collaboration between internal and external stakeholders.

  • Expert skill to establish credibility and rapport with a broad set of executives and staff across the organization.

  • Expert skill developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with all levels of leadership and staff.

  • Expert analytical, conceptual thinking, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Expert skill to influence, negotiate and persuade to reach agreeable exchange and positive outcomes.
