Job Description:

The Senior Survey Manager will oversee all surveying activities for the SR400 Express Lane Project, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in land surveying and layout for roads, bridges, and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing survey teams on mega transportation projects, with a strong background in highway and bridge construction. This role requires expertise in geospatial technologies, survey data management, and construction coordination to support the successful execution of the project.



Key Responsibilities:




  • Survey Operations Management: Plan, direct, and coordinate all survey-related activities, including field layout, as-builts, and topographic surveys.


  • Team Leadership: Supervise and manage survey teams, ensuring high standards of performance, training, and professional development.


  • Technology Integration: Utilize GPS, LiDAR, Total Stations, and 3D modeling for accurate surveying and layout.


  • Quality Control: Implement and enforce quality control procedures to ensure all survey data meets project specifications and regulatory requirements.


  • Coordination with Construction Teams: Work closely with engineers, construction managers, and subcontractors to ensure alignment between survey data and project plans.


  • Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all surveying activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. Maintain comprehensive survey records and reports.


  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for survey-related issues, providing technical guidance and solutions to project stakeholders.


  • Budget & Resource Management: Develop and manage the survey budget, ensuring cost efficiency in personnel, equipment, and operations.


  • Risk Mitigation: Identify potential surveying issues, propose solutions, and proactively manage risks to avoid project delays.


Qualifications & Experience:




  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in surveying for large-scale transportation infrastructure projects, with emphasis on roads and bridges.


  • Mega project experience is required (projects exceeding $500M preferred).


  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license is highly preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, or a related field preferred.

  • Expertise in Trimble, Leica, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and survey data processing software.

  • Strong knowledge of FHWA, AASHTO, and DOT standards and specifications.

  • Ability to interpret construction plans, specifications, and digital terrain models (DTM).

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and manage diverse teams in a fast-paced construction environment.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work in challenging field conditions, including extended hours and travel as required by project demands.
