Project Manager - Manufacturing
Position Overview
The Project Manager reports to the Corporate Project/Engineering Manager and performs project management responsibilities including defining project scope, objectives, needed resources, budget, and timelines for assigned projects. Communicates effectively with project team and other stakeholders through use of project documentation, status reports, meetings, and other forms of written and verbal communication. Drives the achievement of project milestones, budget, goals and organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Performs project Management responsibilities including defining project scope, objectives, identifying resources, building timelines and creating project documentation to meet established project goals.
• Identifies project risks (scope, schedule, costs, quality) and takes necessary steps to communicate, mitigate and develop contingency plans for identified risks. Drives risk mitigations across all stages of the project.
• Structures and drives project planning and schedules to meet milestones and organizational objectives.
• Determines resource needs, including people, capital, and equipment and requests needed resources though established methods, including development of Capital Expenditure Requests.
• Determines and tracks deliverables, including achievement of identified milestones.
• Collaborates with internal teams and stakeholders to gather requirements and drive solutions through all stages of assigned projects.
• Communicates effectively with project teams and other stakeholders through use of project documentation, status reports, meetings, and other forms of written and verbal communication.
• Designs and executes a detailed roadmap for all project activities involved in the launch of a new facility (Greenfield or Brownfield) including the facility build out, relocation of inventory, installation of systems, ramp up of people, etc.
• Leads assigned projects related to operational changes and effectively transitions projects to operations and other stakeholders.
• Participates in Continuous Improvement events and leads implementation activities, as assigned.
• Develops and manages project budget, tracks and controls costs, determines and mitigates risks to budget achievement/costs, timelines, and project scope.
Qualifications
• A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (recommended) and 3 years of project management experience in a manufacturing environment, including project planning, budgeting, and control, or equivalent in combination of education and experience. PMP or PRINCE2 certification is preferred.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
• Experience launching a greenfield and/or brownfield industrial plant is strongly preferred.
• Strong commercial construction knowledge with ability to read and understand building, electrical, and P&ID drawings.
• Must have highly developed problem solving, decision making, verbal and written communication, and relationship building skills.
• Strong business acumen and analytics is required.
• Requires driver's license and ability to travel extensively, including frequent overnight travel (50%).
