SUMMARY: Responsible for performing highly specialized, professional level, accounting duties according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for performing highly specialized, professional level accounting duties according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in risk accounting. This includes but is not limited to reinsurance receivables, insurance reserves, prepaid insurance policies, supplemental calls, business unit premiums and claim expenses. Support for annual independent audits as needed. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or a related field; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE: 5 - 8 years of experience in a progressively responsible accounting role. CPA certification is preferred.
TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, and Excel. Advanced proficiency with accounting systems, such as Oracle. Strong Data Analytical skills.
COMPETENCIES: Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously. Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment. Ability to compile, review, and reconcile data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Knowledge of basic accounting principles such as payables, receivables, and accruals. Knowledge of electronic data processing applies to finance and accounting. Knowledge of purchasing, procurement, budgeting, and administrative management.
OTHER: Bilingual (English/Spanish) plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Extended use of a computer keyboard, viewing of a computer monitor and the ability to sit for long periods of time.
