This managerial role is responsible for overseeing the governance of the Service Organization Control (SOC) program for Northern Trust's business areas. This is a leadership position in the Global Financial Control team which is responsible for governance, oversight, and testing for not only SOC, but, also Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and the Comprehensive Capital Analysis & Review (CCAR) programs for Northern Trust. The role requires a flexible, cross functional leader who is willing to engage with all levels and groups across the organization.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

• Administer growing SOC Governance program for Northern Trust, including managing the team to ensure proactive and accountable end-to-end project management for each report and to ensure report milestones and issuance dates are met / exceeded.

• Partner cross-functionally with internal business, technology, and corporate stakeholders, and liaise regularly with external auditors.

• Lead timely evaluation of control matters, including exception investigation / resolution and control change initiatives, to ensure financial risk for clients is appropriately mitigated.

• Ensure governance program data, report content, processes and procedures are optimized, fit for purpose, and reflect accounting guidance requirements / industry best practice.

• Develop and embed proactive internal stakeholder communications to better set expectations around the SOC processes and develop proactive control forecasts.

• Develop messages and processes for Northern Trust clients, their auditors, and their NT Relationship Managers to address client SOC questions and needs.

Skills / Experience:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and manage relationships with partners at all levels.

• Proven ability to proactively identify opportunities for improvement and implement value added solutions.

• Highly flexible and adaptable to change.

• Extensive experience with business, IT general, and IT application controls.

• Extensive experience working in Big 4 public accounting and/or corporate internal controls functions.

Salary Range:
$85,900 - 145,900 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
