Under general direction from the Production Supervisor, t he Production Lead II is directly responsible for leading the production shift to ensure that all production activities , including, but not limited to assembly work, and machine and equipment operation and monitoring, are carried out in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. The Production Lead II acts as a right-hand to the Production Supervisor and will also provide coverage in any production area as necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities
Own and drive productivity, quality and schedule attainment for the shift
Coordinate daily production schedule to develop rotation based on scheduling needs while ensuring training needs are met
Monitor machines and equipment in operation for malfunctions, and start and stop all machinery when necessary , using Lock-out/Tag-out as required
Performs production duties and fills-in as required to provide coverage for breaks, absenteeism, and time away from work
Own training of new employees , and upskilling or retraining when required
Lead daily housekeeping activities of all production areas throughout the shift
Utilize S ervant L eadership principles to coach and mentor employees, promoting positive employee relations, while reinforcing Company policies and a highly safety-conscious work culture
Back up t o the Production Supervisor as needed
Perform other duties as required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must be very safety-conscious with a record of Hazard Identification and Risk Control
Must operate , understand, and transfer knowledge of all machinery and equipment
Must possess mathematical, mechanical and analytical aptitude
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Ability to read and communicate verbally effectively
Must have strong attention to detail, sense of urgency, and excellent time management skills
Proven interpersonal skills and team-oriented, with the ability to work in a diverse workplace
Forklift certification from Scepter required
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or e quivalent required
Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing plant environment, preferably in a leadership role
Minimum of one year forklift experience preferred
Physical Requirements
Frequent exposure to manufacturing operations requires the ability to use all necessary safety equipment . Standing, walking, stooping, and bending are frequent and required . Must be able to tolerate repetitive motions for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds . Ability to stand for at least 8 - 12 hours on concrete surface is required . Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures.
