Legal Assistant - Pre/Post Judgment Department (Temp-to-Hire)
We are seeking a Senior Legal Assistant for the Pre/Post-Judgment team to support a growing legal department in Southfield, MI. This temp-to-hire position plays a key role in assisting with document preparation, case management, and court communications. The ideal candidate should have experience in legal collections and be proficient in preparing pleadings, writs, correspondence, and agreements. Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and attention to detail are essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with coordinating daily workflow and delegating tasks as needed
Prepare, review, and mail legal pleadings, writs, and agreements
Train and mentor new and current team members
Stay updated on court rules, judge protocols, and procedural changes
Review and track case statuses via electronic court systems
Request and process payments for court filing fees
Communicate professionally with courts, clients, and third parties via phone and email
Maintain accurate case records in management and client systems
Assist attorneys and leadership with administrative support as needed
Ensure seamless workflow coverage when team members are absent
REQUIREMENTS
7+ years of experience in Legal Collections or a fast-paced legal setting
5+ years as a Legal Assistant in a legal collections environment
Paralegal Certificate is a plus but not required
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based court filing systems (TrueFiling/MiFile preferred)
Experience with CLS - Collection Master software is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, and work independently
