Overview
Reporting to the VP and Head of BD and to the VP of Early Pipeline Programs, the role of BD Director for commercial evaluation will be focused on external business opportunities evaluation and strategic commercial input for multiple Early Pipeline (preclinical) programs.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with and support the VP of Business Development and BD team on due diligences, transaction processes and commercial evaluations for business case development
Collaborate with and support the VP of Early Pipeline Programs on commercial evaluations and strategic commercial recommendations for assigned Early Pipeline programs
Lead the commercial analyses and evaluation, and prepare written/oral summaries and presentations of the uncovered information related to new product acquisitions or merger to senior management
In-depth understanding of commercial forecasting, market access, pricing, launch requirements and use of epidemiology data
In depth experience with competitive Intelligence (CI) as the role requires continuously scouting, monitoring, and evaluating competing companies and news that might affect the business case
Analyze market trends, industry dynamics, and competitive landscapes to identify market and growth opportunities
Lead and conduct strategic, market, and competitive analyses of business development opportunities and assigned Early Pipeline programs
Lead primary and secondary market research for BD and assigned Early Pipeline programs activities as needed
Mentor junior members of the BD team as needed
Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with teams such as Commercial, Market Access, Sales, Research, Clinical, Finance, and Legal
Establish external and internal networks to support market intelligence and identification of relevant business transformation opportunities for growth
Attend external partnering and life science conferences and meetings (10% - 20% travel)
Job Requirements:
B.S. (min. 5-7 years of experience), M.S. (min. 3-5 years of experience), or PhD (min. 2-3 years of experience) with a degree in Biology, Immunology, Cell biology, Neurology, or other related discipline
5-7 years business experience, preferably in Pharma/Biotech (BD and/or commercial, strategy groups)
Experience in the life sciences, medical or health care industry is a must
Good knowledge of disease areas, drug development activities and commercial processes
Advanced business and commercial acumen with attention to details
Advanced knowledge in commercial forecasting and modelling
Experience working in a matrixed team environment with ability to work effectively with colleagues and external partners
Ability to partner with internal commercial SMEs in developing and evolving due diligence findings to drive decision making
Experience to present recommendations and influence internal and external groups
Excellent communication (written and verbal), leadership, interpersonal and problem solving skills
Salary Range
$171,000 - $239,667 a year
