Appointment: Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, tenured / tenure track, full-time, 12-month
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Dean of Library Affairs, the Head of Access Services is responsible for leading the daily operations of circulation services, interlibrary loan, stacks maintenance, shipping and receiving, and course reserves. The position works closely with other departments to enhance the overall library user experience.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Provide leadership for Access Services, including Circulation, Interlibrary Loan, Course Reserves, Shipping and Receiving, Stacks Maintenance, and Circulating Collection Book Repair Services.
Lead the Access Services team by providing strategic direction, planning, and workflow coordination. Integrate new technologies as appropriate.
Draft and recommend departmental policies and provide guidance on local, state, national, and consortia interlibrary loan policies and current copyright laws.
Communicate library policies to users in a helpful, courteous, and tactful manner.
Resolve user concerns regarding policies, fines, holds, and library privileges.
Lead the development of a comprehensive training program for Access Services staff, promoting ethical, responsible, and knowledgeable student employees.
Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate full-time staff.
Collect, analyze, and report user statistics related to circulation, interlibrary loan, reserves, and library building use.
Provide formal and informal instruction in information literacy and library research for general and subject-specific courses.
May serve as liaison librarian to academic departments based on education and expertise.
May teach credit or non-credit courses in areas of expertise.
Conduct scholarly research/creative activity as part of the position and promotion and tenure process.
Engage in professional activities, including university and library committees and task forces.

Required Qualifications:
ALA-accredited Masters of Library Science degree or equivalent, awarded by date of appointment.
For appointment at the Assistant Professor rank: minimum two (2) years of professional experience in access services at an academic library.
For appointment at the Associate Professor rank: minimum of six (6) years of experience in access services at an academic library.
Supervisory experience.
Advanced experience using an integrated library system.
Demonstrated collaborative and team-building skills.
Experience with emerging technologies in resource sharing.
Strong service orientation, analytical ability, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Flexibility, strong organizational skills, and ability to work well under pressure.
Potential to meet established Library Affairs criteria for promotion and tenure, including professional service and published research
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with the Alma Integrated Library System.
Significant experience with both front-end and back-end components of integrated library systems.
Professional experience in circulation, reserves, and interlibrary loan.
Experience working in a consortia library environment.
Experience with data collection, organization, and analysis skills.
Knowledge of copyright and fair use policies related to resource sharing, interlibrary loan, and reserves.
Experience working with diverse populations.
Experience in developing innovative and creative enhancements to library operations.
