Description
The Psychologist provides court-ordered evaluations in Care and Protection, Child Requiring Assistance, Delinquency, and Youthful Offender cases. The Psychologist conducts evaluations for emergency and civil commitment proceedings to determine if individuals require psychiatric hospitalization and/or substance abuse commitment. The Psychologist testifies in legal proceedings as needed by the Court. The Psychologist provides consultations to court personnel and has the opportunity to engage in various initiatives within the juvenile justice system throughout Western Massachusetts.
Essential Job Functions
? Participates in the CJCC (Certified Juvenile Court Clinician) training process and attains certification as a CJCC Level I and II
? Perform court-ordered evaluations in delinquent and civil matters per MGL Chapter 123, Sec's 12(e), 15, and 35 as well as Chapter 119 Sec's 39G and 68A.
? Becomes familiar with local and regional treatment resources and other services potentially helpful to court-involved juveniles and their families.
? Provides effective clinical consultation and liaison services to judges, probation officers, attorneys and other court personnel.
? Provides effective consultation services to families and community-based service providers.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
? Follows established procedures for collaborating with applicable state agency personnel including DMH, DCF, DYS, DPH, DDS and their vendors, and with public and private school programs in order to facilitate appropriate treatment and services.

After additional qualifications are obtained (i.e., CJCC Mentor) oversight of a small group of BHN and other Court Clinicians' work will be expected as needed through appointment by the Assistant Commissioner of Forensic Services of MA's DMH.
? Complies with professional ethical standards, court and court clinic policies and procedures, and mandatory reporting obligations established by law.
Requirements

Doctorate in Psychology is required.
?
Licensure as a Psychologist and Health Service Provider in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or license eligible (license to be obtained within 9 months of hire).

Meets eligibility to be a Certified Juvenile Court Clinician Level I and II or Candidate.
?
Minimum of one year experience working with children and families required.
?
Understands child development theories and is committed to taking a developmental approach to evaluations and treatment.
?
Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as within a multidisciplinary team.
?
Demonstrated exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
?
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
?
Excellent relationship-building skills.
?
Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable car available for all working hours
