As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will leverage your expertise to design, develop, and optimize complex mechanical systems and equipment. Working under general direction, you will provide technical solutions to challenging engineering problems, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of mechanical systems. Your role will involve collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to innovate and enhance the functionality of both existing and new systems, contributing to the organization's engineering excellence.
The proposed salary range for this position is $78,900 - $98,500. There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications. RESPONSIBILTIES
Provide guidance and expertise in mechanical engineering to design complex mechanical equipment and systems
Investigate, evaluate, and develop new applications for existing equipment and systems
Determine theoretical principles and apply advanced analytical and investigative methods to solve engineering challenges
Analyze assigned tasks to estimate manpower and material requirements for project completion
Prepare schedules to ensure tasks are completed within estimated timelines
Evaluate operational systems and design modifications to address malfunctions or changes in system requirements
Plan, organize, and oversee the development of assignments, coordinating manpower and activities to ensure program integration
Provide technical guidance to personnel involved in producing design fabrication drawings
Review and correct drawings to ensure adherence to engineering techniques and specifications
Develop, release, and maintain documentation in compliance with company and contractual requirements
Review, write, and edit reports, including evaluation plans, test results, and technical manuals, to provide recommendations and conclusions
Ensure 100% of planned hours are worked and recorded
Identify and forward to your leadership any opportunities that could lead to growth within your work area
Ensure all contractual deliverables are met/exceeded to the customer's satisfaction
Completes personal PDP and attend Staff Meeting and Storytime (with camera on)
Within your program, build productive and positive professional relationships with clients
Performs other related duties as assigned
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Clearance: Clearance: Active Secret Clearance required
Education and Years of Experience: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, with 2-4 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or similar degree, or a Master's Degree with 0-2 years of experience.
Experience with CAD software (preferably SolidWorks) in creating and modifying model-based definition technical data packages
Proficiency in reviewing and developing engineering documentation and technical drawings
Complete understanding and wide application of mechanical engineering principles, theories, and concepts
Proven ability to independently determine and develop approaches to solutions
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to articulate a case for change to stakeholders
Highly motivated and innovative thinker capable of working with minimal oversight to achieve given objectives
Excellent oral and written communication skill sets
Able to articulate findings and recommend remedies or alternatives to the government team
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in an Air Force System Program Office
Experience in testing Air Force aircraft systems
Understanding of Air Force Configuration Control requirements and CM2 Configuration Control best practices
Experience preparing/reviewing technical documents for Configuration Control Boards
Familiarity with the Air Force testing process and writing test plans/reports to qualify new parts
Experience in Digital Transformation / Digital Materiel Management
Working knowledge of additive manufacturing materials and limitations
Experience in applying additive manufacturing practice to production Understanding of additive manufacturing types, limitations, and printing considerations in adapting parts for 3D printing
Experience with FEA software (preferably SolidWorks FEA / Creo Simulate / ANSYS) including individual parts and assemblies
Experience preparing/reviewing technical documents for Airworthiness certification (MIL-HDBK-516)
Experience in designing mechanical systems for industrial, commercial, and domestic applications
Expertise in evaluating and optimizing operational systems
Familiarity with advanced testing methodologies and tools
Knowledge of industry standards and compliance requirements
Demonstrated ability to innovate and develop original applications or modifications for mechanical systems
Experience in project planning, resource estimation, and scheduling
Experience with Agile and SCRUM
