On-the-job training

The summer student may perform a variety of duties in an operations setting including but not limited to housekeeping, organization, clerical, and data entry duties to support selected departments including but not limited to maintenance, operations, and administration. This temporary dayshift position is located in Viburnum, Mo at the Quentin J Schmidt Lab. 

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• Attending an accredited college, or technical school, or registering as a new student for the fall semester.


• Minimum, 18 years old. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to operate basic hand tools and housekeeping tools.


• Basic knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).


• Able to work independently and with team members.


• Follow verbal & written instructions.

Responsibilities:

• Clean and arrange work areas to ensure they are safe, efficient, and organized. This may include painting, cleaning, and general appearance improvement.


• General office duties include but are not limited to document copying, sorting and organization in paper and/or electronic formats, filing, and data entry. 


• Complete tasks in a safe and environmentally compliant manner by following EHS (environmental, health, and safety) policies, procedures, and best practices; support and assist peers in working in a safe, compliant manner; report unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and provide feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.


• Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment, Physical & Lifting:

• May be required to wear a PPE including but not limited to coveralls, head protection, hearing protection, and foot protection. Frequently exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally, exposed to wet, humid conditions (non-weather). May be exposed to moderate noise levels.


• Regularly required to stand, walk, and grasp. Frequently required to talk, hear, push, reach with hands/arms, and perform repetitive movement of wrist, hand, and/or fingers. Requires clarity of vision and three-dimensional vision.


• Occasionally required to lift to 50 pounds.
