This position is responsible for directing the transportation activities of the Light Rail Transportation Department and the control and direction of all revenue service vehicles and support vehicles in accordance with RTD’s Strategic priorities emphasizing Community Values, Customer Excellence, Employee Ownership and Financial Success. This is a safety sensitive position subject to the rules and regulations of the RTD/Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Drug and Alcohol Policy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:    


  • Oversees the Light Rail Transportation Department and ensures the deparment provides a strong community partnership, delivers high quality customer service, attracts and retains highly skilled employees, and is fiscally prudent in accordance with RTD’s strategic priorities of Community Values, Customer Excellence, Employee Ownership and Financial Success.

  • Recruits staff to include interviewing, hiring, assigning work, training, coaching, and counseling to ensure consistent application of Employee Guidelines, processes, and procedures. Conducts performance review, and holds employees accountable for performance of their responsibilities.

  • Recommends, prepares, implements, and monitors rail transportation work plans, project/work schedules, budgets, and workforce utilization.

  • Plans and coordinates with consultants for integration of new corridors into existing light rail system.

  • Recommends, monitors, and controls the light rail transportation budget, and serves as the point-of-contact for light rail transportation budget issues and concerns.

  • Monitors to ensure that services are provided in an efficient, professional, and safe manner and promotes safety programs in cooperation with the Public Safety Division.

  • Makes recommendations for revisions in schedules and during unusual situations gives direction to minimize service delays.

  • Performs all other job-related duties as assigned.

 
Qualifications:    


  • Bachelor's Degree in Transportation, Business Management, Public Administration or other closely related field of study preferred.

  •  A minimum of five years of supervisory experience in the field of transportation and/or operations.

  •  A minimum of ten years of experience in the field of transportation, preferably rail.

  •  Proficiency in standard budgeting methodologies.

  •  Ability to work a flexible schedule, which includes the ability to be 'on-call' on a 24-hour basis.

  •  Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

  •  Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written means.

  •  Ability to use sound judgment.

  •  Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.

Pay Range:

$123,234.00 - $174,067.50 Annual
