POSITION SUMMARY:


We are seeking an experienced leader of our Software Development organization to lead the evolution of our warehouse execution software-based offerings to enterprise level capabilities. The VP, Software Development, will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer and will be responsible for bringing our software vision to life in marketing leading products. Additionally, the role will be responsible for the modernization of our software architecture, with a particular focus on transforming legacy Java applications into scalable, resilient, cloud-native microservices architectures. The ideal candidate will combine technical depth with strategic vision bringing both innovation and operational/technical excellence to life through out software products.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:


• Lead the technical vision and strategy for our software development aligning market/customer requirements and technical innovations into our software solutions
• Lead goal of modernizing our software platform, including the transformation of legacy systems into modern, scalable architectures including service-based models with continuous delivery of updates and capabilities
• Direct and oversee multiple global engineering teams across WES (Warehouse Execution System), WCS (Warehouse Control System), Inventory Slotting and other domains
• Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to align software initiatives with business objectives and growth strategies. Evangelize the benefits of design choices to all stakeholders.
• Establish technical standards, architecture principles, and development practices for software
• Drive the adoption of microservices architecture, implementing best practices for service decomposition, API design, and system integration
• Manage and mentor a team of senior engineers, architects, and technical leads
• Build an efficient software development capability supported by delivering on key metrics across the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring quality, reliability, and operational excellence
• Be an influential leader working closely with our IT infrastructure team on development, our sales team on growth and our service team on supporting our customers


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• 15+ years of software development experience, with at least 8 years in senior technical roles
• Proven experience leading large, global and remote engineering organizations (100+ team members) and working with outsourced technical firms
• Proven experience and understanding of modern software development practices, distributed system design, cloud/micro-services technologies, and design for reliability
• Proven experience in modernizing monolithic applications into microservices architectures
• Proven experience building thorough quality assurance environments from functional through system validation and chaos engineering.
• Experience with modern cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerization technologies
• Strong understanding of data privacy, security and compliance requirements
• Track record of successful large-scale digital transformation initiatives
• Ability to build a scalable organization through development and performance management
• Strong communications skills at the C-Suite level and change management skills


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Graduate degree or MBA
• Private equity exposure
• Exposure to manufacturing and supply chain


TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong knowledge of Java enterprise applications and frameworks, containerization and orchestration, API design/development, database technology, security, and reliability.
• Deep understanding of WMS, WES, or WCS systems, with at least 5 years of direct experience in warehouse technology solutions
• Experience with advanced messaging for high-throughput systems
• Experience with modern UI/UX for operational technologies


WORKING CONDITIONS: When duties are performed in a typical office environment, extended periods of sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen will be required. Also required is the ability to talk and hear, in person and by telephone; use of hands to handle, feel, or operate standard office equipment; and ability to reach with hands and arms. Associates are frequently required to walk and stand. The noise level in this work environment is usually quiet. When traveling to Client sites, essential requirements of this position may require physical presence in various environments and locations. Physical stamina may be required for prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and/or working in cramped quarters. Exposure to potentially dangerous tools and equipment amidst a variety of building materials is probable, as is occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can vary from being relatively quiet, to moderate, to excessive. Additional safety clothing including gloves, hardhats, and devices to protect eyes, mouth, or hearing, will be worn as necessary
