Plant Detectives is looking for dedicated and hardworking individuals to join our team as Nursery Laborers. This is a full-time, hourly position with overtime opportunities. The season runs from March through the end of December, offering hands-on work in a dynamic and rewarding outdoor environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Care for flowers, plants, shrubs, and trees, including spraying, weeding, fertilizing, watering, and pruning. Inspect plants for signs of disease, pests, or damage and report issues to supervisors. Move plants, trees, and shrubs by hand or with machinery like a Skid Steer. Load and offload plant material from trucks. Sweep and tidy work areas to maintain a clean and organized environment. Support with general nursery upkeep, including tasks like setting up displays, organizing inventory, and assembling materials. Operate basic landscaping equipment such as wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, and pruning shears. Follow safety protocols and instructions from supervisors. Perform other miscellaneous manual labor tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be comfortable with physical, outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs). Prior experience with landscaping, nursery, or similar work is a plus but not required. Ability to operate machinery (Skid Steer experience is a bonus but not required). Reliable transportation to our nursery in Chester, NJ. Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
