Overview

We are seeking a full-time Senior Clinical Research Assistant (Sr. CRA) to work on multiple ongoing clinical research studies in people with cancer. The individual in this position needs to be an independent, highly motivated, and interested in being a key member of a research team studying the impact of cancer treatment and exercise on the health and survival of people with cancer. The Sr. CRA will work directly with the Principal Investigator (PI), Lab Manager, and Project Directors (PD) to oversee recruitment, retention, and data collection and quality, while striving to create consistency and integration of research activities across studies to maximize efficiency and productivity. The primary responsibilities for this Sr. CRA position are to work with the PD to manage recruitment of research participants, train and oversee staff on recruitment activities and data collection that includes physical performance testing, communicate regularly with research participants, and ensure the overall quality of the trials. This person must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision, and proactively ensure that recruitment and data collection goals are met and that tasks are completed accurately and on time. This person will be expected to identify and communicate any problems and concerns and propose solutions to the PD and PD of the projects. Familiarity conducting clinical research in older adults and/or clinical populations at OHSU is strongly preferred. Experience recruiting participants, particularly in a clinical setting, and administering physical performance tests (e.g., mobility and balance) is strongly preferred. The role will require the ability to travel to OHSU clinics outside of Marquam Hill, thus having your own transportation is required. A person who has excellent organization and data management skills, excellent oral/written communication skills, can work independently, identify and solve problems, and thrive in a team environment is a must. The person hired must be CPR/First Aid certified. This is a grant-funded position that lasts for up to one year but may be extended depending on project needs and funding.

 

Oversee and participate in recruitment activities: develop and maintain recruiting strategies, lead recruiting functions, serve as the direct contact for collaborating providers accrue near/at target sample for studies

 

Data collection and management: Coordinate and manage data collection, track participants in the trial, and ensure data completeness and quality

 

Oversee and train research staff: directly train and oversee RAs to conduct study activities, including recruiting and scheduling participants, conducting testing visits, data entry and management, and extracting information from electronic health records

 

Project management: oversee study timelines and deliverables; coordinate and lead study meetings; participate in dissemination activities (i.e., abstract submissions, poster presentations, etc.)

 



Responsibilities

Education & experience:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field AND 1 year of relevant experience OR
  • Associate's AND 3 years of relevant experience OR 4 years of relevant experience OR
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience 

 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  •  Ability to attend to details and complete assignments with minimal direction 
  • Prior experience in human research studies (recruitment, data collection)
  • Ability to work with PI and lab manager and other project directors to independently carry out research and related work 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and consistently, demonstrate a high level of professionalism and interact well with collaborators, participants, and medical staff
  • Proficiency in Microsoft (Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and other MS office programs)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language
  • First Aid/CPR certified


Qualifications



Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree or higher in exercise science, health promotion, nutrition, health education, nursing or related field required
