The Shipping and Warehouse is responsible for overseeing inbound and outbound shipments and the inventory, cost control, and usage of raw and recycled materials. This position must ensure the material usage plan supports production expectations and efficiency standards, as well as adherence to testing requirements to ensure material quality. This individual must monitor the overall performance of the shipping/warehouse team, provide visibility to system gaps and challenges, and be able to drive improvements.
Areas of Accountabilities
Manage the materials and components inventory
Ensure proper raw material (virgin resin, color, and additives) inventory and regrind inventory levels are met for production needs so not to miss opportunities.
Work closely with scheduling and purchasing to utilize and streamline systems for forecasting and lead times for material and component inventories.
Identify scenarios that are not profitable, and if unresolved, communicate to PM.
Communicate daily material usage plan and expectations to the production team.
Ensure all regrind outlet opportunities are met across all three shifts by reviewing daily schedule.
Audit regrind usage and work with Production and Processing on resolving issues related to running regrind.
Manage material testing program and equipment; oversee the testing and qualifying of all incoming recycled material.
Support Plant Efficiency
Ensure material coordination for changeover expectations are being met.
Ensure we always have a secondary stream of material and options if we encounter issues.
Streamline grinding activities that correlate to needs on the production floor.
Keep shipping supervisor accountable for timely physical inventory counts.
Implement and manage the effective execution of packaging related Kanbans.
Ensure safety culture within warehouse and team members
Lead by example by following all safety practices and holding team accountable for the same; champion safety initiatives and actively participate in regular safety meetings.
Proactively seek opportunities to identify and address hazards in all areas of the operation.
Complete Job Hazards Analysis on non-standard work and perform value-added behavior-based safety.
Ensure compliance with forklift safety procedures and conduct audits.
Lead and develop the team
Drive ownership and accountability with the material team to reduce material and shipping related issues and improve 5S organization.
Develop team to achieve plant objectives and personal growth related to improved skills and capabilities.
Encourage team and celebrate success.
Ensure growth plan exists for each team member to advance their skills and our ability to better service our customers.
Administer quarterly and annual Key Accountability reviews with each team member.
Review and maintain staffing levels required to meet daily activity.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Preferred: Bachelor•s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering or General Management
Preferred: 5+ years of Logistics Management Experience.
Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
Proficient using MS Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). JD Edwards (ERP) software a plus.
Proven ability to develop and implement processes from the ground up.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects and multiple facilities.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and departments.
