Role Description:

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our Resilience Water - Midwest team in Columbus, OH. As the Midwest design hub, our Columbus office provides a dynamic environment where you will collaborate with top industry professionals on innovative and complex water projects. As a key member of our Resilience Water - Midwest team, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining strong client relationships, leading project teams, and driving successful project execution. This position offers the opportunity to shape the future of municipal water treatment, working on cutting-edge solutions for water quality, treatment, reuse, and management.

Role Accountabilities:

In this role, you will collaborate with a passionate team of industry experts, tackling complex challenges and shaping the future of water infrastructure. Your responsibilities include:


  • Leading clients and project teams in the planning, designing, and constructing of water treatment plants, distribution systems, and pump stations.
  • Overseeing the development of construction documents, specifications, and construction oversight to ensure high-quality project execution.
  • Managing diverse water projects, keeping them on track, within budget, and meeting all deliverables.
  • Collaborating with leadership teams to develop project scopes, budgets, risk management strategies, and staffing plans.
  • Mentoring and developing junior technical staff, fostering professional growth and leadership development.

Traveling (up to 25%) is anticipated for project-related activities such as client meetings, construction progress meetings, and project site visits.

Key Skills and Experience:

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will have a strong consulting background and technical expertise in water planning, treatment, and distribution systems. They should have experience in building and managing project teams, fostering client relationships, and delivering detailed design solutions within scope, budget, and schedule. A proven track record as a project team member or manager, coupled with strong leadership capabilities, is essential. The candidate must be able to guide teams toward successful project outcomes while collaborating effectively across multiple offices and multidisciplinary teams. Additionally, a commitment to mentoring and developing technical team members to support their professional growth is highly valued.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ohio, with the ability to obtain licensure in other states
  • 8 years of consulting experience managing water-related projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years of consulting experience managing water-related projects

We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $107,281 - $193,686. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
