Job Description:

Conduct law enforcement license revocation investigations and allegations of misconduct. May also instruct and assist in all aspects of law enforcement training from Basic Certification to Advanced Specialized Training.


Hours: 8-5 Monday - Friday

Job duties



The law enforcement instructor candidate will be required to research, design, develop, deliver, and evaluate training according to protocols established by the Training Center. This training is directed toward the law enforcement profession. This position will, as needed, conduct regional training at law enforcement designated sites within the State of Nebraska. The agency investigator candidate will be required to conduct decertification investigations, complaints of officer misconduct or other duties as assigned.



Requirements / Qualifications




Minimum Qualifications: Two years post-secondary education in law enforcement, criminal justice or education plus five years full-time experience as a law enforcement officer with a law enforcement agency. Must be a certified law enforcement officer.



Preferred: Bachelor's Degree; experience conducting training as a Law Enforcement Training Officer or Supervisor. Five (5) years or more of full-time law enforcement experience.



Other: This position requires travel. As such, the incumbent must be able to present a valid driver's license or another form of reliable transportation.


Regular and reliable attendance is required.



Special Note:Law Enforcement Certificate must be active or eligible for reactivation or reciprocity. Experience in criminal investigations with law enforcement agency at a local, state, and federal level. Successful candidate must be able to pass a law enforcement background investigation, including a polygraph examination.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



The successful candidate will possess:


1. The successful candidate must have experience in conducting criminal investigations at various levels beyond misdemeanor crimes. Law enforcement training with emphasis on criminal and administrative violations would be preferred.


2.The person selected must also be either certified in or be willing to obtain certifications in Interview and Interrogation, crime scene investigation, narcotic investigations and be able to work in all weather conditions and remain on feet for extended periods of time.


3. Certifications and experience to instruct investigative courses at NLETC or possess the ability to obtain the certifications as required.
