Valley Manor Care Center is part of Volunteers of America National Services which serves as the Housing and Healthcare subsidiary of the Volunteers of America parent organization.



Pay: $19.00 - $27.14 per hour, based on experience and with the option of pay in lieu of benefits!



Schedule: Fulltime Monday-Friday, 8a-5p

The Van Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of facility residents. Including transport of residents, meals, durable medical equipment, pharmacy, and any other transportation as deemed necessary. Responsible for overall cleanliness and safety of the vehicle assigned on a daily basis. Responsible for communicating any safety issues to the Director of Nursing or Designee.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Enjoy working with the elderly; minimum one year experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

  • If operating company vehicle you must be twenty-one (21) years of age, meet the MVR organization standards, have a valid driver's license.

  • Able to read and understand maps and routing information.

  • Able to handle information in a confidential manner at all times.

  • Able to deal professionally and diplomatically with people.

  • Must be flexible, and able to function in stressful situations.

  • Knowledge of safety requirements pertaining to the transportation industry.

  • Requires individual who can coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with residents, caregivers, and co-workers.

  • Proficient in identifying and recommending problem resolution.

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

  • Common sense problem-solving.

  • Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.






          Preferred Skills:



          • Must have good interpersonal skills.

          • Able to read and understand maps and routing information.

          • Knowledge of safety requirements pertaining to the transportation industry.

          • Requires individual who can coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.

          • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with participants, caregivers, and co-workers.



            ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



            • Responsible for passengers during transport, providing care in a manner which ensures resident satisfaction.

            • Follows assigned schedule, makes adjustments to meet unanticipated changes, while considering the needs of the resident and requirements of the facility. Communicates these changes to appropriate parties.

            • Operates equipment safely and in compliance with vehicle licensing regulations.

            • Maintains and completes daily required records i.e., Pre- and Post-Trip Inspections, gasoline purchases.

            • Immediately reports, to Director of Nursing or designee, any vehicle or cell phone operating problems, malfunction, or incidents out of the ordinary routine.

            • Transports residents to and from medical/specialist appointments, and activity outings, as requested and scheduled.

            • Transports meals, durable medical equipment, pharmacy, and any other items as deemed necessary for resident.

            • Provides physical assistance to each resident when needed as he/she boards and debarks from the program's vehicles.

            • Maintains the vehicle in a neat and clean condition.

            • Ensures vehicle equipment is maintained and operating within manufactures recommendations, replacing supplies as needed.

            • Communicates with Director of Nursing or Designee daily to be updated on resident conditions/ changes.

            • Maintains the confidentiality of all company procedures, results, and information about residents, clients or families.

            • Handles potentially infectious specimens with appropriate biohazard precautions, and practices Universal Precautions.

            • Attends required in-services and completes assign online modules.

            • Maintains any required certifications or licenses.

            • Performs other duties as required by Director of Nursing or Designee.
