To learn, through work and education, various aspects of mechanical and electrical maintenance by performing preventive maintenance of machines/equipment; assisting ME Techs in the performance of their jobs; independently pursuing education within the realm of industrial maintenance and technology. This is an entry-level position within the skilled trades field affording an opportunity for the incumbent to gain knowledge and specialized experience through work experience and obtaining related formal education with the goal of obtaining the requisite experience and education to fully qualify for the salaried position of Manufacturing Engineering Technician (Gr. 40).
Major Responsibilities:
Rebuild production equipment including welding equipment and tooling, paint related equipment and Assembly tools.
Perform preventive maintenance on machines and equipment
Assist in restocking maintenance inventory and consumables
Assist in daily cleaning, 5S and snow removal
Support Manufacturing Engineers in project work via welding, electrical, etc.
Handle oils, paints, and lubricants related to plant operations and maintenance
Key Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience desired
Familiarization with MIG welding, electricity, and machine operations and maintenance required
Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude
Understanding of basic mechanical and electrical terminology
Ability to enroll in and attend career-related coursework at the college level
Ability to operate a forklift and pass an OSHA approved certification program
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to lift 67lbs. waist high
Ability to work overtime when needed
Ability to attend work on a regular basis
