Job Description:

The Case Manager supports the Director, Case Management & Campus Assessment, Response, & Evaluation (CARE) team in leading the College's non-clinical/administrative case management efforts using a holistic and highly collaborative approach to student health, personal and academic support, and overall well-being. Specifically responsible for addressing the needs of undergraduate and graduate students who are struggling academically, psychologically, or economically, and/or who may be experiencing health challenges, disciplinary matters, or familial/social issues through a variety of interventions, referrals and follow-up services; as well as performing psychosocial needs assessment, case management, and consultation with academic deans, faculty, health care providers, parents, and colleagues within the Division of Learner Success and Campus Life.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Programmatic and Individual Student Support:

• Support the College's non-clinical/administrative case management efforts with a focus on students' health, academic success, personal development, and overall well-being.


• Review and respond to CARE reports submitted by members of the Babson community regarding students or situations of concern.


• Ensure an expeditious response to CARE reports to include partnering with reporting parties to facilitate the most efficacious response, formulate intervention plans to minimize and/or resolve problems, connect students with appropriate resources, and mitigate risk.


• Respond directly to situations involving students whose behavior or whose physical, mental, or psychological health may be disruptive or harmful to themselves or others in the college community and/or students who may need additional support to be successful at Babson.


• Collaborate as a team to gather and share information, make recommendations regarding possible interventions, and ensure that appropriate outreach and connections are made for all identified students.


• Assist the Director in managing the College's Concussion Care Protocol (CCP), coordinating closely with Health Services, Sports Medicine, Student Advising & Success, Graduate Academic Services, and Accessibility Services to track and monitor students' progress, recovery, and return to full cognitive activity, pending medical clearance from Health Services or other qualified medical professional, and return-to-play for varsity athletes.


• Maintain privacy and confidentiality to the highest extent possible in accordance with FERPA and other privacy laws.


• Support departmental, divisional, and College-wide trainings for faculty, staff, and student-leaders on CARE and responding to students-of-concern.


• Meet with undergraduate students wishing to take a leave of absence from the College to determine reason(s) and what support or resources may be needed. Facilitate reentry meetings as needed. Connect graduate students wishing to take a leave of absence with Graduate Academic Services for program-specific support and guidance.


• Facilitate provision of reasonable accommodations for students with temporary injuries/illness.


• Connect students who are experiencing financial hardship with appropriate on- and off-campus resources (Student Financial Services, Professional Attire Fund, Community Meals) as well as designated student emergency funds (Melissa Shaak Student Emergency Fund, Carol Hacker Endowed Student Life Fund, Gerri Randlett Got Your Back Fund). Collaborate with Graduate Student Services on additional opportunities that may be available to graduate students (Grads Helping Grads, Professional Development Fund, etc.) or off-campus resources for commuters and/or students with families (WIC, GBFB, etc.).


• Coordinate periodic life skills workshops for students focused on a range of topics including, but not limited to, grit, resiliency, cooking, eating healthy on a budget, financial literacy, and self-care.

Operational:

• Serve as a member of the CARE Team, attend weekly meetings, prepare cases, maintain and update notes as appropriate, and document final determinations regarding the status of individual cases.


• Serve as a case manager and conduit for referrals and support for students experiencing academic and personal concerns (e.g., college transition challenges, mental and physical health, substance abuse, eating issues, family/relationship concerns, harassment) and ensure a "warm handoff" to appropriate resources.


• Develop metrics of success, monitor and track progress, and assist in preparing regular reports and dashboards for leadership to demonstrate measurable gains in student retention, graduation, sense of belonging, and overall success for Babson students.


• Keep detailed notes of interactions with students, confidential reports, and referrals as needed in Maxient database.


• Participate in College-wide committees as designated by supervisor.


• Assume additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED

Master's Degree in Social Work, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Public Health, or a related field

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with college students.

Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to, and empathy with, the developmental needs of today's college students.

Ability to work with ethnically, culturally, and socially diverse students, staff, and faculty.

Must have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Maxient, Workday and Salesforce or other student information systems.

Ability to understand and make use of relevant student information and data to provide individualized advising services, support student success interventions, and implement targeted programming.

Must be flexible and willing to assume new tasks and special projects.

Must be capable of effectively managing a student crisis and following up with all appropriate parties in support of their academic, personal, and professional success.

Ability to envision and propose new methods to perform tasks that support Entrepreneurial Thought & Action; to take thoughtful risks; and accept new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.

Ability to anticipate and embrace change; demonstrate willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK

Requires regular on-campus presence given student-facing nature of the role. Hybrid and remote modalities are available at certain times throughout the academic year.
