Responsibilities

Basic Purpose

Responsible for administration of financial planning business systems and data analysis tools to support reporting and planning requirements. The position serves as a subject matter expert on existing financial systems providing training and recommendations for improvements as part of the financial system roadmap. The position will work with finance leadership from NV Energy and Berkshire Hathaway Energy, as required, to develop associated business requirement specifications, designs, plans, tests and implementation of modifications and enhancements to financial planning systems. The position applies business and technical knowledge, skills, and judgment to problem solve system issues and manages on-going user business system support. May be asked to oversee and manage special projects as well as provide technical assistance to less experienced staff. Operates under limited supervision and must work effectively with finance management to support achievement of business objectives while ensuring the accuracy of reports and the integrity of internal control over financial reporting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conducts detailed analysis for all system enhancements, prepares associated business requirement specifications, designs, plans, tests and implementation of modifications and enhancements and upgrades to financial planning systems.

Provides analytical support in the development and reporting of budgets, forecasts, investments, and other related processes.

Provides functional support to for all financial planning and analysis systems projects. Works with team to develop and achieve milestones and timelines. Works with team members to ensure project timelines are met. Identifies and manages project issues to resolution and escalates issues to management as needed.

Ensures the integrity of operations and maintenance of financial planning systems as well as interfaces into other systems.

Ensures that system controls are adequate for compliance with relevant company policy, including managing system and user security roles, change management policy, and scenario management policy. Oversees the completion of documentation in accordance with Change Management and Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) policies and procedures. Performs analytics using various sources of data to predict/forecast possible outcomes. Based on analysis performed, recommends strategies to address possible outcomes and/or to meet business operational needs.

Diagnoses and resolves system related problems and questions with respect to both maintenance and development activities. Ensures adequate technical resources are involved in the diagnosis and resolution of system related problems and questions. Oversees the communication with system users, IT technical staff and vendors, primarily financial planning software, to gather information and requirements, discuss system solutions, answer questions, and describe system changes.

Assists in the development and implementation of analytical tools such as performance metrics and benchmarking to identify gaps, efficiency gains and savings opportunities. Proactively identifies process and report improvements for budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis. Works with appropriate teams to implement improvements.

Assists in the development and implementation of the financial information technology system roadmap, including programs and processes, that achieves organization goals and objectives. Maintains knowledge of current system technology and investigates current developments in systems and assimilates functional experience with new software technologies to improve business processes.

Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.

Requirements

Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, information systems or related field from an accredited school and six years of progressively responsible work experience in finance and/or data analytics.

Candidates that do not possess a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of 10 years of related work experience with six years of progressively responsible work experience in finance and/or data analytics.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of:

  • information technology, finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • technical capabilities in information systems, data analysis, process improvement, financial planning and forecasting
  • company’s strategic plan; regulatory and political environment in which the company operates; financial planning systems and process; business system enhancement and regulations and modification principles; applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations; and company policies, procedures and practices.

Demonstrated skills such as:

  • analytical, problem-solving, decision making and presentation
  • project management, prioritization as well as handling multiple tasks concurrently.
  • leadership and teamwork skills to negotiate with and influence peers and management on policy and strategic issues.
  • communication and interpersonal skills to manage and motivate employees, use oral and written communication to create a vision, communicate strategy, and effectively interface with other company leaders

Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment. Some same-day and overnight travel may be required.

Compensation

Annual Salary: $103,800 (Min) to $122,000 (Mid); Up to 15% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
