Job Summary

This position is under the direct supervision of the Manager for assigned, high-profile site and performs a variety of Security Escort-related duties. G iven the nature of the assignment, candidates must possess a Department of Energy (DOE) "Q" Clearance with HRP.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Duties Include:

  1. Performs all duties necessary in accordance with all applicable security procedures and security requirements.

  2. Responsible for a variety of access entry activities including the following: Greeting all entrants to the facility, checking identification of all incoming persons and ensuring all possess proper badging with appropriate access levels, following sign-in/out procedures for non-cleared visitors entering and leaving the site in a professional and courteous manner.

  3. Maintaining continuous visual, audible, and/or physical control of non-cleared personnel while in security areas; ensuring all non-cleared visitors and subcontractors are working to proper site security plans.

  4. Coordinating all paperwork including any incident reports, daily logs, and other items as required

  5. Responding to all alarms and emergencies, contacting the proper persons as per security procedure

  6. Maintaining current knowledge and awareness of security plans, emergency and operation procedures

  7. Operating all vehicles safely and efficiently according to all laws, policies, and procedures

  8. Other duties of similar scope and nature as assigned


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY

Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference depending upon the nature of the position

Basic Qualifications


  • U.S. citizenship preferred

  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States.

  • Must possess an active DOE "Q" clearance and be HRP

  • Must have a reliable means of communication (i.e., phone) and means of transportation (public or private).

  • Must have the ability to speak, read, and write English.

  • Ability to acquire and maintain any other specific special clearances/access requirements

  • Current, valid driver's license


Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D

  • At least three (3) months' experience performing work in a public safety and/or security-related position

  • Related experience preferred


Background Prerequisites

Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing, and behavioral selection survey, in addition to any mandatory licensing requirements

Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing)


  • Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for security personnel.

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn security operations and procedures.

  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.

  • Ability to see, hear, speak, and write clearly in order to communicate with employees and clients. Ability to write routine correspondence, including logs and reports.

  • Ability to be an effective team member.

  • Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances.

  • Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment and organization.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Ability to provide high-quality customer service.

  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures.

  • Required ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.

  • Basic skills in keyboarding, computer usage, and operating controls.


WORKING CONDITIONS (Physical/Mental Demands)

With or without reasonable accommodation, requires the physical and mental capacity to perform effectively all essential functions. In addition to other demands, the demands of the job include:


  • Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations

  • May be exposed to stressful situations, such as challenging individuals who are in or approaching an unauthorized area

  • May be required to work overtime without advance notice

  • Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for up to 10 or more hours per day and may involve climbing stairs, working in high places (e.g. roofs), climbing ladders and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain.

  • Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Assignment requires eyesight that is correctable to a minimum of 20/40; m ust have hearing that is correctable to a minimum 35 decibels above average at frequencies of 500, 1000 and 2000 hertz

  • May be required to use a vehicle in the performance of duties. Vehicles are to include but not limited to: cars, trucks, electric carts, and bicycles.

  • On occasion, it may be required to perform stressful physical activity.

  • Depending upon assignment may be exposed to inclement weather or be required to work in environments or under conditions that require the use of protective gear and devices and/or awareness of personal safety and safety of others.

  • Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents, or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed

  • May be exposed to or required to handle sensitive and confidential information.

Wage: In addition to the base wage for this position, assignments may include an additional $5.36 of Health & Welfare (H&W)

  • Based on assignment, paid time off (PTO) for full-time employees ranges from 80-160 hours/year based on tenure in the position; sick leave is a minimum of 56 hours per year for a full-time employee.
