This person would be working at the Sylvania campus primarily, with travel to the other campuses as needed. This role performs a variety of activities to ensure the efficient and effective operation of a Student Accounts office.
This is a front-line customer service position that helps students, staff, parents and community members in person and over the phone. They provide daily cashiering duties as well as resolving a broad array of complex financial issues. While helping with daily financial transactions, this person will be asked to engage with students in financial conversations and planning to help ensure student financial success and referring students to appropriate college and external resources. The Sr. Student Account Specialist provides services to a diverse population including non-native English speakers, international students, high school students and other community members whose needs and interests may vary, and consistently delivers these services in a professional, efficient and friendly manner. This is a 40 hour a week position, scheduled Monday through Friday. Shifts are Monday-Thursday (8:30am-5:30pm) and Friday (8:00am-4:30pm). This position may be eligible for hybrid work, with one day remote and four on-site. However, availability of remote work varies depending on the needs of the department and proficiency and comfort of the employee. In order to work remotely, the individual must have an appropriate workspace, adequate internet access, and may not perform other duties (such as child/elder care, other job) during work hours. Experience cashiering, auditing, reconciliation, account payments, student account helpline and related regulatory compliance
Experience working with diverse populations and an understanding of best practices around equity and inclusion
Experience serving in a lead capacity providing operational support to ensure smooth operations of the office at an assigned campus and/or one or more complex areas of responsibility
Experience engaging in financial outreach and intervention; providing support and information regarding financial options to students who face financial barriers to education
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
One year of college level course work with an emphasis on business technology, accounting or relevant office occupations curriculum (Note: One year of relevant experience may substitute for the college level course work.)
Two years of experience in general office support
One year of experience in a student service environment with considerable public contact
Preferred Qualifications
Two years of experience working with a higher education ERP and/or payment gateway, such as TouchNet, Workday, CASHNet, or Nelnet
Experience training or providing assistance to other staff on complex student accounts.
