Job Description:

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA (USA). We’re expanding! A new division of Women’s Health Pathology has been created at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. We are seeking pathologists with subspecialty training or expertise in Breast and/or Gyn pathology. Candidates should be interested in Academic Surgical Pathology and have an M.D., D.O., or M.D. / Ph.D. Board Certification in anatomic pathology and eligibility for an Alabama medical license is required. Candidates beyond starting Assistant Professors should also have a record of substantial academic pathology productivity including publications and participation in national societies. Subspecialty expertise in Breast and/or GYN is required. Subspecialty expertise in perinatal pathology will be favorably considered. Interest in other subspecialties may be considered.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is an outstanding tertiary care institution currently processing over 60,000 surgical pathology specimens per year. The Anatomic Pathology faculty in the department include a diverse group of 25 faculty members with expertise encompassing the entire spectrum of subspecialty areas. Faculty are noted for multidisciplinary, academic productivity and national leadership. A strong diverse research portfolio in translational investigations is conducted by the faculty along with a quality teaching program.

A pre-employment background investigation is performed on candidates selected for employment. In addition, physicians and other clinical faculty candidates who will be employed by the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation (UAHSF) or other UAB Medicine entities must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen to be hired.
