About the Role
A specialized engineering firm is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support manufacturing and product development. This role involves designing and implementing mechanical systems, conducting feasibility studies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize product performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement new mechanical systems and subsystems based on specifications.
Experience working on DoD, Federal or Government Contracts
Develop product requirements, specifications, and schedules.
Conduct feasibility studies to assess functionality and reliability.
Troubleshoot designs in collaboration with cross-functional team members.
Work with project management to resolve design issues and optimize schedules.
Evaluate and recommend design changes as needed.
Conduct, coordinate, and supervise product design, verification, and validation.
Maintain detailed documentation throughout all design phases.
Lead and participate in technical design reviews.
Develop 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks.
Perform structural analysis using SolidWorks Simulation when necessary.
Prepare specifications, data sheets, and technical drawings.
Review vendor proposals and technical documents.

Qualifications
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
10+ years of experience in mechanical design.
3+ years of experience with SolidWorks or expertise in other 3D CAD modeling systems.
Experience with SolidWorks Simulation is a plus.
Strong understanding of structural design principles.
Knowledge of machinery product design, verification, and validation.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a team and collaborate across departments.
