Summer Engineering Intern - Medical Device Startup

Madison Scientific is an innovative medical device startup focused on developing cutting-edge solutions in the neurotech industry. We are seeking a highly motivated Summer Engineering Intern to support our R&D and product development efforts. This internship offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced startup environment, where you will contribute to real-world projects that impact product development and testing.
Responsibilities
As an intern, you will work closely with our engineering team to assist in various technical and documentation tasks, including but not limited to:
Organizing and maintaining lab equipment, tools, and materials
Documenting specifications for key materials used in product development
Assisting in circuit design, prototyping, and basic electrical testing
Supporting software testing efforts, including writing and executing test protocols
Conducting risk analysis (e.g., basic FMEA) for components and systems
Performing incoming inspections and documentation for critical components
Writing test protocols and documenting results in formal reports
Assisting in validation of test stand hardware and software following industry best practices (PQ/IQ/OQ)
Creating CAD models (SolidWorks) and 3D printing prototypes for usability studies
Basic Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field (must have completed at least two years of coursework)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Capacity to be on-site 4-5 days per week, Monday through Friday
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) and hands-on prototyping
Basic knowledge of electrical circuits and software testing principles
Familiarity with standards such as ISO 60601-1 & 14708-1, IEC 62366-1 & 62304
