The Sourcing & Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw materials, packaging, and other goods necessary for production. This role will focus on new product sourcing, ensuring cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality and compliance standards. The ideal candidate has 2 - 5 years of experience in new product sourcing, preferably within the food, manufacturing, or nutraceutical industries.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
New Product Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to support product innovation and development.
Sales Team Support: Collaborate with the Sales team to understand customer needs, provide sourcing insights, and ensure timely procurement of materials for new and existing product lines.
Supplier Management: Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure a reliable supply and cost-effective procurement.
Negotiation & Contracting: Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to optimize costs and mitigate supply chain risks.
Quality & Compliance: Ensure all sourced materials meet regulatory, safety, and quality standards specific to the food, manufacturing, and nutraceutical industries.
Inventory & Order Management: Monitor inventory levels, track orders, and coordinate deliveries to align with production schedules.
Market Analysis: Stay informed on industry trends, raw material pricing, and supply chain disruptions to make strategic purchasing decisions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, Quality Assurance, and Production teams to align procurement with business needs.
Cost Savings & Efficiency: Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements within procurement operations.
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: 2-5 years of procurement experience with a focus on new product sourcing, preferably in food, manufacturing, or nutraceuticals.
Skills: Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Systems Knowledge: Experience with ERP/MRP systems and procurement software is a plus.
Microsoft 365 Proficiency: Experience working with Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, and PowerPoint.
Excel Skills: Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis, pivot tables, and reporting is a plus.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with internal departments and external suppliers.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Demands: This position is primarily sedentary, requiring prolonged periods of sitting, working on a computer, and occasional light lifting (up to 10 lbs.).
Work Environment: The role is performed in an office setting with standard office equipment and conditions.
