Responsible for managing activities required to define, plan, manage and execute product lifecycle management. The Sr. PD Program Manager - Product Lifecycle Management will work both cross-functionally across the OU functions it serves and between sibling OUs to ensure our products meet OU defined needs over their effective commercial lives. This position requires cross-functional knowledge and comprehensive business management skills, providing direction and leadership to cross-functional development, manufacturing, quality, and commercial teams related to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). This includes teammates from the following disciplines: finance, product development, regulatory affairs, quality, operations, engineering, product planning and product marketing.

Cardiac Rhythm Management:

Our Cardiac Rhythm Management Operating Unit offers devices and therapies that treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms and heart failure. It is comprised of three key businesses: Cardiac Pacing Therapies, Defibrillation Solutions and Cardiovascular Diagnostics & Services. Together, we will transform the lives of people with cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure.

Implement Product Lifecycle Management strategy:


  • Develop, implement, and maintain portfolio product lifecycle sustainment plans. This will require integrating with key functional partners involved with the management of product from New Product Introduction (NPI) through product obsolescence.

  • Influence future strategy of product commercialization and obsolescence plans.

  • Serve as a focal point for continuity/lifecycle issue identification and resolution.

  • Responsible for integrating product quality issues over PLM and serving as an information conduit on issues related to quality between internal OU stakeholders.

  • Applies the strong understanding of product development, New Product Introduction, product sunsetting and Phase-In/Phase-Out strategies

Realize strategy through influence and actions:


  • Identify and advocate for projects and funding necessary to maintain a healthy commercial product portfolio.

  • Align Operating Unit functions on planning, execution, budget management, and issue management in alignment with product lifecycle sustainment plans.

  • As products are developed as platforms, work across Operating Units core teams and with outside partners to ensure the product meets the needs of multiple business units in alignment with the product lifecycle sustaining plan(s).

  • Partner with OU Integrated Business Planning (IBP) teams to ensure product lifecycle management has a clear voice in the ongoing IBP process. This will include early integration of clear input and output process which will drive the short- and longer-term objectives of the OU.

  • Influence product portfolio budget, resources, and schedule to maintain portfolio.

  • Liaison with NPI teams to ensure close integration of strategic plans with ongoing product lifecycle sustainment plans.

Monitor execution:


  • Monitor execution progress toward established objectives, assess risk, and implement strategies to ensure successful delivery of the product portfolio.

  • Manage project portfolio spend within financial plans.

  • Track last time and strategic purchases ensuring follow up programs and inventory consumption are aligned, regardless of who is managing the program.

  • Track OEM global regulatory renewals.

Communicate effectively:


  • Maintain effective communication with the Operating Unit leadership team, team members and functional leadership (Functional VPs and Directors) in all activities required to design, develop, and deliver the product successfully.

  • Effectively communicate on a regular basis vertically and horizontally demonstrating maturing accountability for functional and business objectives.

  • Maintaining clear and open communications including internal and external stakeholders with a focus on product availability, continuity, and quality.

  • Develop and maintain process(es) for total product portfolio health communication, review and governance which will be developed to serve a broad set of stakeholders ranging from project teams through OU Senior Leadership.

  • Develop and maintain an operating mechanism aligned with new product introduction product development process to ensure product lifecycle management inputs are a source at project / product inception and an output as new products approved for commercial release.

  • Bachelors degree required

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Nice to Have:


  • B.S. in engineering or science discipline.

  • MBA or advanced degree.

  • DRM, DFSS, or Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt

  • 10+ years' experience working in medical device (highly regulated) environment.

  • 5+ years' experience working in one or more of the following functional areas: Instrument Engineering, Healthcare IT, Clinical Research, Regulatory, Marketing, Operations, and/or Quality.

  • 5+ years of Medical Device Product Development experience.

  • Experience with business systems such as SAP, JD Edwards, and Product Data Management (Enovia, MRCS, Agile).

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification

  • Demonstrated strong business acumen and planning.

  • 5+ years' experience managing projects.

  • Demonstrated excellent downward, lateral, and upward communication skills (oral/presentation and written).

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, quantitative analysis, and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated high degree of initiative and influence management skills.

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully leading projects to completion.

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico and certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$164,800 - $247,200

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
