We have partnered with a growing manufacturer who are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join their team as a Director of MRO Operations, specializing in Avionics. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on management professional with a strong technical background in Avionics/Electronics Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) operations. This role is being hired with a view to progressing into a General Manager position within the next few years, offering a clear pathway for career advancement.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of FAA repair station operations.
Develop and implement policies and procedures using LEAN principles to optimize Supply Chain Management, Quality Assurance, Assembly/Test, and Production Program Management.
Drive revenue and profit goals while managing P&L responsibilities.
Prepare and lead the annual budget and strategic planning processes.
Mentor and develop team members across Engineering, Production Control, and Quality Assurance.
Ensure effective use of ERP systems within manufacturing operations.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and report findings to senior management.
Review and approve price proposals and customer purchase orders.
Maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with relevant environmental, safety, and health regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Business, or a Technical field OR equivalent hands-on management experience with progressive career growth.
10 years of relevant technical work experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Proven expertise in medium-volume, high-mix Avionics/Electronics MRO environments, ideally within the aerospace or military sectors.
Strong knowledge of ERP systems; Pentagon ERP experience is a plus.
Familiarity with LEAN principles; Six Sigma certification is advantageous.
Excellent communication skills, strategic leadership abilities, and the capacity to mentor and motivate teams.
Knowledge of FAA regulations and ISO-9000/AS-9100 Quality Management Systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical background in Avionics/Electronics MRO.
FAA repairman certificate (current or past) is a plus.
Business degree or certification.
