WSB LLC is a comprehensive engineering services company with offices in Oklahoma, Texas, Colorado and California. We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Materials Laboratory Supervisor for our Centennial, Colorado office. The candidate we are looking for needs to have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Construction Materials Testing/Management role, preferably with municipal project experience.

Job Summary:

Responsible for coordinating and managing the activities of a Construction Materials Testing Laboratory. Testing includes materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt. This includes ensuring that the laboratory testing services are conducted in a safe manner and consistent with company quality protocols, project requirements, and in a timely manner. Oversee and coordinate the training and utilization of laboratory staff. Oversee and coordinate the maintenance and cleanliness of the laboratory and testing equipment. Oversee and coordinate the calibrations of the laboratory testing equipment, maintain current accreditations, and be prepared to add accredited laboratory testing services to our repertoire. Must have experience and be able to communicate effectively with customers, contractors, and project managers in the preparation of proposals and cost estimates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure that the testing services are accomplished and consistent with AASHTO/ASTM Standards, Procedures, and WSB’s Quality Manual.
• Ensure the testing is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Assists during preparation of proposals and cost estimates for laboratory testing services to ensure a proper scoping of services, availability of manpower, and appropriate pricing.
• Represent WSB with clients in a professional and competent manner.
• Obtain certification and act in the role of WSB’s CO Radiation Safety Officer (RSO)
• Oversees calibration and maintenance of the laboratory equipment.
• Oversees and maintains AASHTO and CDOT laboratory accreditations.
• Ensures the proper organization and appearance of the laboratory area including keeping the area and equipment safe, clean, and uncluttered.
• Performs construction and geotechnical related laboratory testing.
• Promote quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Monitor quality standards and practices.
• Manages laboratory personnel ensuring that they are properly trained and prepared to obtain essential certifications. Ensures staff maintains certifications and tracks expiration dates of each. Evaluates performance of all employees within the laboratory. Assists them in their professional development and growth, consistent with company policies and procedures.
• Provide leadership regarding safety, ensuring that employees are provided the necessary tools and equipment to ensure their personal safety in the office, laboratory and field.
• Directly supervises the administrative systems of the laboratory to ensure that reports, proposals, and information required to serve the client are properly prepared and reported.
• Ensures that laboratory personnel follow company administrative policies. Examples of such policies include, but are not limited to, time sheets, expense reports and purchase order requirements.
• With assistance must be able to plan for, recruit, select and provide training for personnel.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Regional Manager.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent knowledge of construction materials testing and civil related projects.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Proficient with computer programs including experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, other applicable software’s. 

Education, Experience and Certifications:

• Minimum High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience performing laboratory tests on construction and geotechnical materials.
• Certification by qualified national, regional, or state authorities (CAPA, CDOT, ACI, WAQTC) is required in areas such as concrete, aggregates, soil and rock, or road and paving materials. Or ability to renew/obtain certifications
• Well-versed in ASTM, AASHTO, & CDOT standards and test procedures for soils, aggregates, concrete and HMAC.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Must have a valid Colorado Driver’s License
