The Automation Design Engineer is charged with conceiving, developing, designing, implementing, and maintaining automated manufacturing systems and processes.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Automation engineer can be assigned to lead automation technicians.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Automation Engineer is responsible for the mechanical, electrical and control systems design of automated manufacturing equipment and processes.
Specify and integrate robotics, vision, and other manufacturing technologies.
Work with Automation Technicians to assemble, test and trouble shoot the custom-built automation systems.
Collaborate other design engineers to prepare cost estimates for automated manufacturing systems and research new manufacturing technologies.
Document and train manufacturing personnel for the use of custom-built automation systems.
Assist in ECR/ECN process for prototype and new products.
Assists in different stages of Advance Product and Quality Process (APQP) including PFMEA and Control Plan creation.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Machine design using 3D CAD software.
PLC and HMI Programming
Electrical Design and Documentation
Robotic Application and Programming
Vision System design and programming
Application of Servo Systems
Strong Electrical and Mechanical Trouble Shooting and Program Debugging Skills
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
5 years of related experience
Must be a team player who is well organized, with good communication skills, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
