Reporting to the CEO of Heartland Paving Partners, the President will lead the strategic and operational direction of ACI Asphalt & Concrete, ensuring alignment with the parent company's growth targets. This executive will oversee multiple locations, developing and implementing strategies that drive productivity, innovation, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will bring a paving, civil engineering and/or construction background combined with a strong understanding of sales and operations in the construction services sector.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership and Revenue Growth
Develop and execute a growth strategy focused on reaching $80M in revenue within 3 years, emphasizing market expansion in the Minnesota and Wisconsin markets.
Utilize paving, construction and/or engineering expertise to guide technical decision-making and improve service offerings, enhancing competitive positioning in the market.
Sales and Business Development
Lead sales initiatives to drive business growth, actively engaging with key customers and identifying new opportunities
Develop and nurture strategic relationships to increase market share and expand the customer base in target industries.
Operational Excellence
Oversee day-to-day operations across operations, quality assurance, and sales, focusing on standardizing processes across the division.
Apply construction / engineering knowledge to drive process improvements, enhance efficiency, and ensure high standards in service quality.
People Leadership and Culture
Champion a collaborative, high-performance culture that prioritizes customer experience and continuous improvement.
Mentor and lead department heads in Sales, Operations, Safety, Quality and more, fostering accountability, engagement, and professional development.
Financial and Budget Management
Oversee budget planning, financial forecasting, and P&L management, ensuring alignment with growth and cost-control objectives.
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining operational effectiveness and quality standards.
PROFESSIONALEXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:
15+ years of leadership experience in construction or civil engineering or related industries
5+ years of experience in infrastructure solutions with expertise in asphalt & concrete preferred
Construction Management, Business or Engineering Degree; an advanced degree or MBA is preferred.
Demonstrated background in sales / business development, with proven success in growing revenue and expanding market share.
Experience scaling operations and revenue, ideally from $50M to $100M+ or a similar growth trajectory.
Strong leadership skills with a track record of building high-performance, people-first cultures across multi-site operations.
Strong communications skills - verbal and written required
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Proficient computer skills (MS Office -Excel, Outlook, Word), ability to learn new software quickly
