Advanced Vehicle Assemblies (AVA) HQ is based in Rochester Hills, MI and supports North American HQ and plants in Roseville, Milan, and Monterrey, MX.
AVA is seeking an engineering manager to oversee all technical needs in our Roseville facility. The most qualified candidate will have experience with roll forming, stretch bending, and automated welding. Candidates should have a proven track record in planning and managing all engineering tasks needed in the facility.
This position will be based in Roseville, Michigan and on-site is required.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:
Manage all equipment specification sheets for the facility
Responsible for continuous improvement of manufacturing methods and process/design changes to facilitate increased profit potential and cost reductions
Schedules and meets with engineering team on weekly basis to cover projects and task lists
Review and approve new RFQ process and product requirements
Assist in the design and development of roll form tooling including but not limited to strip layouts, die construction, roll design, etc.
Assist in the design and build of secondary operations such as stretch bending and welding
Track and report progress of CI Projects
Assist in the development of tooling standards
Assist in development and improvement of current and new tooling sources
Assist in equipment issues in the facility
Assist with customer issues, working alongside the Quality manager
Work with toolroom on detail drawings for tooling needed
Work with maintenance team on projects to improve OEE
In-depth understanding of part inspection and ability to interpret GD&T on part prints
Ability to manage multiple products and tasks as required to meet demanding customer deadlines
Candidate should be team oriented with good interpersonal and communication skills
Must be self-motivated and goal oriented
Strong understanding on CNC and stretch bending of steel and aluminum
Strong understanding of stamping processes as well as general assembly.
Problem solving - anticipate and resolve tooling issues that place on-time delivery of early parts, production launch or put production at risk
STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's in mechanical engineering or similar
Experience: 8+ years of experience in roll forming
Product Experience: Metal forming processes (stamping, roll forming, welding, bending) is required.
Working Knowledge:
• Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges. • Ability to troubleshoot roll mill setup issues • Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity. • Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machine issues. • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in a manufacturing environment. • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
