WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The New Jersey Chapter of The Nature Conservancy is hiring a Land Protection Analyst to work with our Lands team in support of our 2030 goal of protecting 10,000 acres in the NJ Appalachians. The Land Protection Analyst will assist the Land Conservation Manager and Land Protection Specialist in developing priority mapping for land conservation, updating existing mapping of TNC Lands and preserve amenities (including trails), performing record and database management, and conducting targeted landowner outreach to accelerate the rate of land protection in the NJ Appalachians protection focus area. The Land Protection Assistant Analyst should have experience developing and manipulating maps using ESRI ArcGIS products, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online. In addition, the Land Protection Analyst should be a good communicator, written and orally, and interested in contributing to NJ Chapter efforts to promote equitable conservation practices.
The Land Protection Analyst may have the opportunity to support other conservation projects throughout the New Jersey chapter, including Stewardship Team management of TNC preserves, Cities Team work in Newark and Paterson and Government Relations Team efforts to develop policy that creates safe road crossings for wildlife and financial incentives for conservation sellers.
Core job duties include:
* Develop TNC-NJ Land Protection Web Map and database to document the historical impact of TNC's land protection efforts across the state and streamline future land protection mapping needs.
* Manage and refine the landowner outreach database and associated Web Map for the New Jersey Appalachians Coalition to facilitate partner collaboration and accelerate the rate of land protection within the region.
* Assist the Land Protection Specialist in completing various mapping and project management tasks necessary to conserve priority properties.
* Participate in partner meetings, landowner site visits, and outreach events as needed.
* Work with minimal supervision.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Geography, Conservation Planning, Ecology, Environmental Policy, Landscape Architecture etc.).
* At least 1 year of related experience (assessed by relevance to job summary and essential functions).
* Knowledge and/or coursework in remote sensing, ecology, biology, or related natural sciences.
* Experience creating and manipulating maps with ESRI ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcGIS online.
* Experience with Microsoft Office suite of tools
* Good communication skills.

Additional Qualifications of Interest
* 3+ years of related experience (assessed by relevance to job summary and essential functions).
* Experience developing and managing large databases.

ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION

The position will be primarily located at the TNC Southern New Jersey Office in Woodbine, NJ with the possibility for some remote work. In addition, the position may require periodic meetings at the TNC Northern New Jersey Office in Chester, NJ and in the field in Warren and Sussex counties.
1 position is available 6/1/25 - 11/30/25 (6 months)
This position is paid for 35 hours of work per week at $28 per hour. Responsible for their own transportation to and from the meetings.



AUTO SAFETY POLICY

This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with TNC's Auto Safety Program.

Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.



SALARY INFORMATION

The pay for this position is $28 hourly. This only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
