Position Summary

Brief Description of PSU/School/Dept Facilities & Property Management (FPM) supports student success by maintaining and continually improving PSU’s campus, including 50 acres and 5 million square feet of office, housing, classroom, conferencing, and retail spaces.

Facilities and Property Management (FPM) is a part of the Office of Planning, Construction, and Real Estate. FPM coordinates with multiple campus partners to ensure that PSU grounds, buildings, and mechanical systems are well maintained, aesthetically pleasing, clean, functional, and safe for employees, students, and guests. Position Summary This temporary position performs journey-level commercial carpentry construction, maintenance and repair on the interior and exterior areas of campus buildings. The position is part of the In-House Construction crew in Facilities and Property Management (FPM).
This temporary position is part of an innovative team-oriented environment located at the downtown Portland campus.
Minimum Qualifications from Classification -Experience as a skilled carpenter. The experience must include form building; rough framing; outside and inside finishing; layout; care and use of tools and woodworking machinery; blueprint reading; and application of safety standards and codes; OR

-Completion of an apprenticeship (four years) under a skilled carpenter which included experience as listed above.
Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position
  • 2 years experience working at a journeyman level carpenter.
  • Good Communication skills.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Willing and able to wear a half mask respirator.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years experience working at a journeyman carpenter level, in commercial construction or in a school or institutional environment.
  • Experience working both independently and directing non-skilled labor.
  • Various equipment operation certification or licenses.
  • HAZMAT training.
  • Journeyman card.

Work Days/Hours Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, schedule to be determined.
Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement Salary range in between $23.45 – $26.97 per hour.
