American-Newlong, Inc. is looking for a talented individual to join our Engineering/Field Service Team as a Field Engineer, located in Mooresville, IN. To be qualified for this position, you must have at least two years in the Field Engineer role and no less than 2-5 years of experience with PLC programming. This position's primary focus will be field service oriented, working on troubleshooting and system support through programming and system upgrade design. This position is ideal for someone to continue developing their skills utilizing engineering principles, specifications, and procedures on site and out in the field. We provide opportunities to demonstrate your practical skills and provide support to all aspects of industrial machine control system design and build. Within this role you will work with our field service and engineering team on the support of a wide range of customer equipment that's been installed throughout the last 45 years.
American-Newlong is a leading manufacturer/provider of automated, open-mouth bag packaging systems/machinery and integrated robotic palletizing systems.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Creating, reading, and editing ladder logic programs, and wiring diagrams. Perform and/or verify process/control design for projects (PLC's, networks, variable frequency drives, instrumentation, control panels, etc.).
Support customers, field technicians, and equipment operators to solve equipment issues over the phone
Responding to customer callouts and field dispatches.
Conducting routine equipment servicing in the field. Identify potential issues and recommend solutions to prevent failures.
Installing new equipment and systems as well as managing inspection of existing electrical and controls equipment; design and integrate new electrical and controls equipment into preexisting systems
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities.
Assist shop assembly with installation of control panels and control devices in equipment.
Accurately generate parts list for new or preexisting equipment in a timely manner
Communicate with in-house, contract, and customer programmers of various abilities to explain design intent and facilitate interface with upstream and downstream equipment
Provide technical assistance and training to customers on equipment operation and maintenance.
Build and maintain strong client relationships.
Establish and maintain remote access to facilities for troubleshooting and updating programs.
Ability to apply practical knowledge to understand and carry out instructions furnished in oral or written form and to manage problems involving concrete variables in or from standardized situations.
Ability to perform at the level of quality required to prevent losses in cost, service, production and/or damage to equipment.
General knowledge of the skill trades including mechanical, plumbing, and electrical troubleshooting.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology or an equivalent field from an accredited college or university
Required experience:
2-5 years of experience with PLC programming using mainly, but not limited to, Allen Bradley processors, and HMI's. Specific experience with Compact Logix, Micro Logix, and PanelView in automated packaging machine environment
2+ years in controls engineering role, preferably as an integrator
1-3 years' experience of electrical control panel design
1-3 years' experience of panel building experience
2-3 years' experience of CAD 2D, 3D software
Essential Physical Requirements: Lift or carry 50 pounds occasionally
Must possess a valid driver's license
Travel Requirements:
The ability to travel approximately 70-80% a year, nationally to client worksites
Ability to obtain/maintain a valid passport and travel internationally without restriction is required
Full-time, on and off-site work environment 8am-5pm. Authorization to work within the U.S. - NLA will not sponsor an employment visa (e.g., H-1B visa, etc.) to fill this position.
