Responsibilities
As a member of OpenLight's Silicon Photonics (SiPh) team the candidate will be responsible for the development, design, layout and integration of a wide variety of Silicon, SiN and Heterogenous Si-IIIV based components for the OpenLight silicon photonics PDK.
The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with photonic IC-architects, CAD-layout engineers, process engineers and test engineers, in order to define, design, integrate and validate optical components in OpenLight's Si-IIIV technology platform.
Use custom built and commercial simulation tools to design and model silicon and SiN photonic optical components such as: Mach-Zehnder Interferometers and modulators, ring resonators and modulators, multimode interference couplers, directional couplers, waveguides, Bragg gratings, etc.
Use custom built and commercial simulation tools to design and model Si and III-V based components such as: photodetectors, amplitude- and phase-modulators, Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers, Lasers, etc.
Perform photonic integrated circuit CAD layout of integrated optical components and circuits
Perform engineering level test-data analysis to optimize and validate optical component performance
Perform statistical analysis of large production datasets to validate performance over process and drive yield improvements
Work closely with process engineers to define and optimize the device structures and process, and drive yield improvements for devices and PICs
Develop compact models for optical components in OpenLight's silicon photonics PDK
Work cross-functionally, driving device-centric failure analysis
