The Application Engineer (AE) will be the point of contact for our customers when dealing with all engineering issues and concerns related to their assigned projects. The candidate's goal is to obtain new business awards and grow the business for Resonac America, Inc. This shall be done by successfully completing the customer's expectations regarding the screening of friction material candidates for their applications. This position is responsible for coordinating prototyping, testing, analyzing data and reporting to internal and external stakeholders. The Application Engineer will have effective communication skills as an integral part of the team. The candidate is also expected to manage existing projects with engineering issues in order to maintain business already achieved.
Responsibilities
Comprehend customer's technical requirements and find effective solutions with our team members
Understand the Resonac and Japan Brake manufacturing process for brake products
Issue and maintain timelines and open issues for responsible projects
Issue and maintain a Design Verification Plans & Reports (DVPR) for responsible projects
Issue and maintain product specifications according to the DVPR & customer requirements
Support the Prototype department when needed
Organize prototype samples and testing for responsible projects
Participate in internal & external testing for responsible projects
Manage testing to complete product validation
Summarize data for sample physical properties, brake characteristics tested, etc. and report to the Manager.
Make presentations to customers detailing the above activities & test results
Interface with all departments to ensure customer satisfaction
Register and complete IMDS for responsible projects
Conduct root cause analysis in new and existing projects
Provide status reports for responsible projects to management
Identify and understand future technical trends and requirements
Qualifications
Knowledge of passenger car & light truck hydraulic brake systems.
Knowledge and skills of friction material manufacturing methods and pad quality inspections.
Knowledge of friction material testing procedures, brake characteristics and requirements.
Strong problem solving and decision making skills required.
Able to organize and implement a design verification plan and report (DVP&R).
Proficient use of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
Able to manage complex open issues and timelines with accuracy and organization.
Ability to use design software a plus.
Strong communication skills within international organizations
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering (or similar).
2-4 years of experience in the automotive brake industry preferred.
Position Type & Expected hours of work:
Full Time. 35 hours per week.
Work Environment:
This job requires working in different environments. Those environments include working in a typical office environment, working in the prototype, the quality and the test labs, traveling to visit customers, suppliers and equipment manufacturers, walking around during factory visits, and observing testing at vehicle test tracks.
Physical Demands
This job requires a minimal amount of physical lifting. At most, the applicant will be expected to lift 30-40 lb. boxes containing automotive brake parts for short amounts of time.
