Job Summary:
The Tennessee Operations Metallurgy and Quality Systems Manager directs and coordinates the activities of the Technical Department. This position is responsible for, but not limited to:
Product quality, customer satisfaction, and internal recovery (yield) through process control, product development and project management.
Assuring continued compliance to ISO/QS/ITAF and Laboratory Certifications as required.
Ownership and continuous improvement of the quality management system.
Achieving Laboratory testing and certifications of production to satisfy industry and customer standards.
Lead and provide vision and direction for the Technical Departments efforts in establishing goals that support the Business Unit Plan.
Lead the Technical Resource efforts in developing robust process controls, and supportive practices that support maximum operational availability and product quality. throughout the plant and delivers product that meets our customers' specifications.
Lead by example, and coach Technical Resource employees in relentlessly pursuing opportunities for improvement, often found by "thinking outside the box." Utilize outside resources (Arconic and non-Arconic) to enhance Tennessee Operations' processes and improvements.
Lead the effort to drive all significant problem investigations to root cause to determine true root cause and appropriate and verifiable corrective actions.
Lead recruiting, hiring and training of new personnel (Metallurgists, Engineers and Technicians) as needed.
Set strong Performance Goals for Improvement for direct reports.
Provide support for our Customers with metals application and forming problems.
Establishing product, surface, and production standards to meet customer requirements.
Managing new products-the Trial & Availability process and projects.
Resolution of customer complaints and claims.
This role is primarily day shift, Monday-Friday. However, because our facilities operate on a 24/7 schedule, this role is expected to support the overall quality function of the areas for new product trials, production disruptions, and training. This could include on-call help and/or working off-hours/off-shifts at times to support the operation.
Basic Requirements: (required)
Bachelor's of Science in Engineering or Materials Science.
Minimum of 10 years of working experience in the Aluminum industry.
Minimum of 10 years in Quality Control (or manufacturing related experience)
Minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience (salaried and hourly.)
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Engineering, Materials Science or Business preferred.
Experience with rolling mill processes and products.
Experience with Ingot Casting Processes.
CQE or CQM certification.
Customer Service or other commercial experience.
Excellent communication and human relations skills.
Experience with Automotive, Industrial, and beverage can sheet manufacturing and quality control processes.
