Job Description:

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to lead cost estimating and bid preparation for commercial construction projects. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for analyzing project specifications, preparing accurate cost estimates, and collaborating with project teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure competitive and profitable bids. This role requires a strong understanding of construction costs, materials, and market trends, as well as the ability to strategically assess risks and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

Estimating & Cost Analysis:
  • Develop detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications.
  • Analyze project requirements, identifying risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving alternatives.
  • Ensure that estimates are in line with market trends, historical data, and company financial objectives.

Bid Preparation & Proposal Development:
  • Lead the preparation and submission of competitive bid proposals, ensuring compliance with client requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and superintendents to develop accurate pricing models and schedules.
  • Participate in bid reviews with senior leadership, presenting cost breakdowns and risk assessments.
  • Assist in negotiations with clients, general contractors, and public agencies as needed.

Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination:
  • Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors and industry partners to optimize costs and availability.
  • Verify subcontractor qualifications, past performance, and compliance with project specifications.

Market Research & Cost Control:
  • Stay updated on construction industry trends, material costs, and labor market fluctuations.
  • Monitor competitors' pricing strategies and develop approaches to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Provide input on budget forecasting, financial planning, and cost management strategies.

Process Improvement & Technology Integration:
  • Implement best practices for estimating, cost tracking, and value engineering.
  • Utilize and maintain estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, HCSS, Sage Estimating, or equivalent tools).
  • Work with leadership to enhance estimating procedures and improve bid accuracy.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 10+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction.
  • Proven track record of successfully bidding and winning mid-to-large-scale projects.
