We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Superintendent to oversee on-site construction operations for commercial construction projects. The Superintendent will be responsible for managing field activities, ensuring schedule adherence, enforcing safety standards, and maintaining quality control. This role requires strong leadership, deep technical construction knowledge, and the ability to coordinate subcontractors and vendors effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
On-Site Construction Management:
Oversee daily field operations, ensuring all work is completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
Develop and implement site logistics plans to optimize workflow and minimize disruptions.
Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and field labor to maintain productivity and efficiency.
Ensure all construction activities comply with project specifications, contracts, and regulatory requirements.
Scheduling & Project Execution:
Maintain and update construction schedules, ensuring that milestones are met.
Identify potential delays and work with the Project Manager to implement corrective actions.
Conduct daily and weekly site meetings to review project progress and resolve any issues.
Safety & Compliance:
Enforce OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and job-site best practices.
Lead safety meetings and toolbox talks, ensuring all personnel understand and follow site safety protocols.
Conduct site inspections to identify and eliminate potential hazards, ensuring a zero-incident workplace.
Quality Control & Inspections:
Perform regular inspections to ensure workmanship meets project specifications.
Work with project engineers and quality control teams to verify materials, installations, and finishes.
Identify and resolve non-conforming work or deficiencies to avoid costly rework.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination:
Serve as the on-site representative, maintaining strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and inspectors.
Communicate project progress, challenges, and solutions to key stakeholders.
Assist with RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation as needed.
Problem-Solving & Conflict Resolution:
Identify and resolve on-site challenges quickly, ensuring minimal disruptions.
Provide leadership and direction to field teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
Work closely with the Project Manager to anticipate and address project risks.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred) OR equivalent field experience.
7+ years of experience in commercial construction, with at least 3 years as a Superintendent.
Proven experience managing ground-up, tenant improvement (TI), and renovation projects.
