As a Lead R&D Engineer here at Honeywell, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise to lead critical projects to develop PVD sputtering Targets primarily through powder metal processing. You will play a pivotal role in driving the development and implementation of powder metallurgy processes and technologies to develop new products and improve product quality. Your deep understanding of powder processing principles and practices will be instrumental in the development of innovative products and solutions. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing best practices to improve our process and products. This role involves complex problem solving and the ability to work well with cross-functional teams that span the organization. You will report directly to senior R&D manager, and you'll work out of our Spokane, WA, USA location. In this role, you will impact the development of cutting-edge technologies and contribute to Honeywell's commitment to addressing materials challenges in the electronics industry through innovative solutions.
Responsibilities:
Work with members of R&D team, Commercial group, customers and OEM's to identify, define and lead research & development projects centered around powder metal/ceramic manufacturing processes and products.
Design and conduct experiments, simulations, and analyses to drive the development of new technologies and products.
Develop and thoroughly characterize new products and processes for optimal performance and quality so they transfer seamlessly and cost effectively into production.
Work with the Process Engineering, Equipment, Quality, and Production Departments to transfer developmental technology into production.
Contribute to detailed formal design and drawings, analysis plans, and fabrication plans in coordination with stakeholders.
Develop and execute test plans involving data collection, interpretation and assessment of results, and incorporation of steps for continuous improvement of processes and products.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to quality standards.
Lead the design and implementation of powder processing technologies to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
Provide technical support to our Quality and Technical Services Departments as appropriate on customer issues related to new and existing products.
Set up or expand lab capabilities for powder characterization, compaction, sintering, and testing.
Keep up to date on technology developments, trends, innovations, and issues related to electronic materials, and materials processing technologies. Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement.
Promote innovation by submitting new ideas and generating patents.
The annual base salary range for this position is <$137,000.00 - $171,000.00. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. MUST HAVE:
A MS or PhD degree in Metallurgy/Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related discipline with focus on powder metallurgy or ceramics.
Minimum 6 years of metal and/or refractory powder processing and related products experience in an industrial R&D/manufacturing environment.
Fundamental knowledge and hands-on experience with metal/ceramic powder processing - powder synthesis, powder compaction, sintering, characterization, and machining.
Experience with metrology and material characterization techniques including elemental analyses, electron microscopy, EBSD, XRD, etc.
WE VALUE:
