Physical Requirements Light lifting of objects up to 25 pounds, clinical research procedures including blood draws, clamps, biopsies, and infusions.
Shift Days with some holidays and weekend needs, this position will have 24 accountability.
Job Summary The Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) is seeking a highly motivated, professional Senior Director of Clinical & Nursing Operations to contribute to the variety of perspectives and excellence of our department and to assist the faculty and staff of our fast-paced research center. The CCTS supports campus research professionals to ensure they are able to meet their research goals and ultimately improve the health of our communities and populations. Since its inception in 2006, the CCTS has invested millions of dollars into research funding and trainee support at the University of Kentucky through its commitment to funding innovative, early stage translational research. The CCTS’s vision is to catalyze clinical and translational discoveries through an integrated and transformative research environment targeting improved health, with emphasis on underserved populations in Kentucky. In support of that vision, the Senior Director of Clinical & Nursing Operations role will serve as a team member of the Clinical Research Organization.

The Senior Director of Clinical Operations is responsible on a 24-hour basis for ensuring that safe, effective nursing care is given to participants in the CCTS research areas. Through leadership abilities and knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice, the Senior Director will set goals and objectives for the department that consists of both UK and UKHC team members. They will also set achievable plans for implementation of these goals, which will contribute to the Quality, Safety, and Service agenda for this area, UK and the Enterprise. Provides oversight and institution-level coordination of clinical research activities, ensuring compliance with established federal, state, local and institutional guidelines. Communicates with institutional stakeholders, investigators, research staff and study sponsors to facilitate research activities. Develops a business model and staffing structure to support high-quality clinical research with defined fee structure to partially offset costs. Evaluates and delivers new services and operational capabilities to reflect investigator interests, institutional goals, sponsor needs and the evolving scientific landscape. Assists with professional education programs to train and mentor study coordinators and investigators on how to conduct ethical and effective clinical research studies. The Senior Director of Clinical and Nursing Operations is expected to have recognized stature and relevant subject matter expertise in the clinical research and nursing operations discipline with the demonstrated ability to ensure quality control, administrative and fiscal oversight, and integration of all elements of the CCTS Clinical Research Unit program
