Physical Requirements | The essential functions for this position include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds on a daily basis and 25-50 pounds frequently; as well as stand, walk and sit for long periods of time. The conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases, hazards of radiation, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments. |
Shift | Must be able to work 40 hours each week Monday – Friday, Daytime. Hours may vary between 6am – 5pm.No holidays / no weekends. |
Job Summary | This position covers outpatient clinic and procedural area for Radiation Medicine. Registered Nurses in the Radiation Medicine Unit will provide patient care, primarily will be scheduled and involved in Brachytherapy procedures but will cross cover main clinic functions. The unit provides comprehensive care for patients requiring a variety of outpatient therapies. As a part of this unit, the RN serves as an important component of the multi-disciplinary team This position covers outpatient clinic and procedural area for the Radiation Oncology Clinic. The Nurse Clinical provides disease specific patient care to a group of patients who have serious acute and/or chronic health events or who are seeking healthcare to maintain their state of wellness. Responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to skilled assessments, care plans and care plan implementation, patient education and clinical evaluation or interventions. This position requires working with medical professionals who are working under time and efficiency constraints in a busy ambulatory care setting with a patient centered care focus on quality, safety, and service. A working knowledge of enterprise, nursing, departmental policies, protocols, and procedures is needed to be successful. |
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | The ideal candidate will have the following: knowledge of Maslow’s eight Basic Human Needs and the priority within Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns Frame Work as well as Swanson’s Caring model; superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills; basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet; ability to communicate in a professional and respectful manner with patients and their families, co-workers and physicians; and strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skill. The candidate will be highly motivated, pro-active and confident in advocating for patients and their family members. Will also enjoy working in a strong team environment and provides open, honest communication with fellow staff and physicians. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical skills and a proven ability to work in a team as well as independently. |
