Job Description:

SUMMARY


CEI, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Heavy Equipment Operator for LANL C-2541. The ideal candidate will operate a variety of heavy machinery used in construction, excavation, and other related activities. This role requires a strong focus on safety, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with project teams to ensure efficient completion of tasks.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, backhoes, forklifts, and other machinery as required.
  • Perform pre-operation inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to execute tasks accurately.
  • Conduct site preparation, excavation, grading, trenching, and material movement.
  • Maintain equipment by cleaning, fueling, and performing minor repairs or adjustments.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other site personnel to meet project deadlines.
  • Monitor job site conditions to identify potential hazards and report issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily equipment use, maintenance, and project progress.

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications




Qualifications and Skills




  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Valid heavy equipment operator certification or license.
  • Proven experience operating heavy machinery in construction or related fields.
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and other relevant regulations.




Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics




  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance and basic repair procedures.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and physical stamina to perform strenuous tasks.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and on challenging terrain.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

NECESSARY PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and operating machinery.
  • Manual dexterity and the ability to work in confined spaces or at heights as needed.



Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; most of time is spent sitting in a comfortable position with frequent opportunity to move about.


DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation "safety-sensitive" functions.


WORK ENVIRONMENT


Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Outdoor work in diverse weather conditions.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, and vibrations from machinery.




SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No supervisory responsibilities.




ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS


As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
