Position Overview: The Production Planner is responsible for overseeing and managing the scheduling, planning, and coordination of manufacturing production processes. They ensure that production goals are met efficiently, on time, and within budget, while optimizing the use of resources and minimizing production downtime. The role requires strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills to align the production schedule with customer demand, available resources, and supply chain requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Scheduling:
Develop and manage detailed production schedules to ensure the timely delivery of products.
Coordinate with various departments (production, procurement, quality control, etc.) to align on resource availability, machine capacity, and staffing.
Adjust production plans based on customer orders, inventory levels, and production delays.
Resource Management:
Ensure the efficient use of raw materials, tools, and equipment by closely monitoring inventory levels and identifying potential shortages or overstocking.
Collaborate with purchasing and suppliers to ensure the availability of materials and components for production.
Capacity Planning:
Assess production capacity against projected demand to recommend adjustments in production levels, shifts, or resources.
Monitor production rates, output, and labor efficiency, making recommendations for improvements where needed.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Analyze production data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.
Provide regular reports to management on production status, inventory levels, and any issues affecting production timelines.
Process Improvement:
Work with the operations team to continuously improve production processes for greater efficiency, quality, and safety.
Implement lean manufacturing principles and best practices to reduce waste, improve productivity, and lower costs.
Quality Control Coordination:
Ensure that the production process adheres to quality standards and specifications.
Coordinate with the quality assurance team to ensure any product defects or quality issues are promptly addressed.
Communication and Collaboration:
Act as the primary point of contact between the production floor and other departments such as sales, procurement, and logistics.
Ensure that all team members are informed about the production schedule, goals, and any changes that may occur.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure production processes are compliant with safety regulations and company policies.
Maintain an understanding of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Previous experience in production planning, manufacturing, or a similar role
Strong knowledge of production scheduling software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems).
Familiarity with lean manufacturing and process improvement techniques.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Knowledge of quality control processes and safety regulations in manufacturing.
Working Conditions:
Full-time position with standard working hours; some overtime may be required.
On-site work in a manufacturing facility.
Occasional travel may be required for supplier meetings or plant visits.
