We are seeking a proactive and passionate Electronics Applications Engineer to join our team. If you have a deep love for electronics, enjoy problem-solving, and thrive in customer-facing roles, this position is perfect for you. In this role, you will help our clients select the right display products for their applications, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and contribute to the design or modification of displays to meet customer needs. Some light travel may be required for customer meetings and visits to manufacturing facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Work closely with customers to understand their display needs and develop tailored solutions.
Design and test electronic displays, including circuit design, PCB layout, and software development for both new and existing products.
Evaluate new product samples, develop test plans, and conduct validation testing.
Provide technical support to customers and internal teams via email, phone, or in-person consultations.
Represent the company professionally, ensuring excellent service for customers, suppliers, and industry professionals.
Assist with second sourcing of standard production products, including testing and validation processes.
Support Elgin facility production, including development, modification, or repair of test fixtures (especially related to software or technical theory).
Perform production testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and design modifications for customer orders or RMAs.
Required:
Bachelor's degree (BSEE) or higher in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
4+ years of experience in a technical role, preferably as an Applications Engineer in the electronics industry.
Proficiency in C, C++, or similar programming languages.
Strong understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers (PIC, ATMEL, ARM, etc.), and peripherals (I²C, SPI, USB, GPIO, SD Card, etc.).
Solid foundation in electronics theory and circuit design.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Preferred:
Ability to read electronic schematics and debug/troubleshoot PCB and electronic systems.
Hands-on experience with prototype development (soldering, breadboarding, etc.).
Understanding of CAD modeling.
Experience with OLED, LCD, LED, or VFD display technology is a plus.
