The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, improving, and maintaining manufacturing processes and systems to support the production of LED lighting and Power Supplies. You will work closely with production teams and management to ensure that all assembly processes, equipment, and supporting systems operate and produce products of the highest quality at maximum effectiveness. Focus Areas are Quality, Safety, process validation / qualification, new product introductions, develop and promote standardized work, implement process and machine improvements as well implementing and supporting Lean / Six Sigma initiatives.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the day-to-day operations to ensure Safety, Quality, throughput, and efficiency targets are exceeded. Address production needs from an engineering perspective
  • Lead efforts for the development of all manufacturing processes and production lines for LED lighting and power supply products from product development through full-scale production
  • Utilize process development skills to develop, test, analyze, validate, and qualify manufacturing processes to ensure outputs are consistent and exceed quality and throughput targets
  • Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing discrepancies with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Establish and execute plans for future factory expansion, including capital equipment and realignment of production processes and cells.
  • Assist the implementation of DFMAT (design for manufacture, assembly, and test) and PFMEA (process failure mode and effects analysis) methodology. Utilize statistical process controls to set up reliable, low defect manufacturing processes
  • Influence makes vs. buy decisions and work with external vendors to augment internal capabilities
  • Develop comprehensive and structured work instruction for assembly process lines with detailed process steps and visual aids.
  • Ensure that work instructions, processes, tools, and jigs on the production floor are adequate to meet production needs and quality standards.
  • Demonstrate effective problem-solving techniques, using creative, critical thinking, and collaborative methods and interface with all departments on a regular basis to resolve issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts for products, systems and methods, including responding to customer problems, when required; train/mentor production employees on product processes.
  • Mentor and support team members from a technology and engineering perspective

Desired Knowledge / Skills / Behaviors:
  • Proficiency in developing, validating and implementing new processes and methods
  • Experience in the creation and execution of test plans and use of statistical methods to analyze and present data.
  • Project planning and time management skills to support completing deliverables on time and on budget.
  • DMAIC or DFSS Green Belt
  • Proactive interpersonal and communication skills. Collaborate with internal / external customers and vendors to deliver project and processes within timelines and budgets
  • High self-motivation and drive to execute quickly with excellent troubleshooting/problem-solving skills
  • Committed, effective and supportive team member, able to work flexibly, quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment Demonstrated aptitude in maintaining production equipment.
  • Experience working with ERP (Net Suite), CMMS (Brightly), Statistical Software (Minitab) systems desired
  • Experience with Poly Urethane pouring or casting equipment
  • Ability to:

- Organize workload, and the capacity to progress a range of tasks and projects at one -time.

- Work independently and as part of a team, proactively seek guidance, clarification, and feedback.

- Communicate well with manufacturing personnel, peers, administrative staff, leadership, external organizations, and customers.
  • Full Time - 40 hours/week. Must be willing to work hours outside the normal business professional hours and may require weekend hours to support implementations or other projects.
  • Physical ability and skill to operate production machinery, assemble products, and lift 50 lbs.

Education / Experience:
  • BS degree in manufacturing / mechanical engineering or technology and 5 years' experience
  • AS degree in manufacturing / mechanical engineering or technology and 10 years' experience
